Simple Saturday

 Stampin Up Leaf Lines

This week’s Simple Saturday card is all about black and white. How simple is that!

On a card of Basic Black cardstock, I layered Whisper White and a design from the new Night and Day Specialty paper in the Holiday Mini.  Although this paper is shown with the Halloween stamps, it is not just for Halloween. As you can see this is a subtle flower-like design that has no relation to Halloween. And it makes a great background for this image from the Leaf Lines stamp set, $ 27.95, page 111, set of 6. A ribbon tie of the wide black Grosgrain completes the card.

Sweet Treat Cups, Part 2

Stampin Up Bella Bleu

Since I haven’t cleaned off my stamping table in a couple of days, my Big Shot Flower Folds die and Bella Bleu paper were both still handy. So I decided to try another sweet treat cups card. And this one will fit into the matching envelope.

To see my tutorial on this card, click here.

Both the Sweet Teat cups and padded envelopes will be available to order on September 1st.

Two Cards, One Look

Published by Darlene McCallum under Card Samples

Stampin Up

I love how you can create two very different looking cards from one template.

Both of these cards use the same layout yet the card on the left has a more elegant feel than the fun card on the right. Both cards use only two colours plus a neutral and both were embellished with ribbon and an accent from the Pretties Kit but each card is unique. That’s what I enjoy about stamping – I am inspired by so many of the cards I see and with a few simple tweaks and design changes the card is all mine.

Stampin Up Friends 24-7

This card uses the Bella Bleu designer series paper, which is quickly becoming a favourite, on Not Quite Navy textured cardstock. The card is wrapped with ribbon from the Elementary Ribbon Originals and three medium pearls from the Pretties Kit are adhered along the bottom. A quick and easy card that expresses your message simply and elegantly.

Stampin Up Razzle Dazzle

This card features the Razzleberry Lemonade designer series paper on Rich Razzleberry textured cardstock. The designer series paper is wrapped with the polka dot grosgrain ribbon in Rich Razzleberry, polka dots down. The Pretties kit is used again here with the medium rhinestone brads. As I didn’t want the brads to be visible inside the card, I removed the rhinestone from the brad by opening the prongs in the back holding them in place and adhered only the rhinestone to the bottom of the card.

Sweet Treat Cups

 Stampin Up

The new Holiday Mini has Sweet Treat Cups and envelopes and a stamp set, Sweet Centers to match. How easy is it to include a special little something for the sweet people you want to gift with an unusual card?  The cups can be filled with candy or something with less calories like glitter, sparkles, punches or really anything that will fit into the cup.

On this card, I used the Big Shot Flower Folds die and cut out the centers to fit around the cups.

Stampin up

After using the Big Shot and the Flower Folds die to cut the largest flower, I used my paper snips to cut just inside the fold line and remove the center.

Stampin Up

Next, I overlapped one of the flower petals and adhered creating a flower ring that will fit easily right over the Sweet Treat cups.

Stampin up

To create a cardstock ring that will cover the layered flowers and make the center look finished, I made 2" circle with my Circle Scissor Plus and punched out the center with a 1-3/4" circle punch.

Stampin Up To finish the flower, I layered the three flower rings using adhesive between each layers to keep them in place. The cardstock ring that I punched out was glued on top to cover the flower. Cut out petals were used as leaves and designer series paper and ribbon embellish the card top. Last, a greeting as added.

This is an easy way to create alot of petals without stamping and making a "sweet" flower card.

Cold & Cuddly

Published by Darlene McCallum under Card Samples

 Stampin Up Cold and Cuddly

I’m still creating cards using my fun, new products from the Holiday Mini and I’m loving all of it!

Today’s card uses a stamp set called Cold & Cuddly featuring some icy animal friends. I used the polar bear on my card and the set also has a walrus and a penguin. Don’t you love his toque?

For this card, I adhered a Snowfall Printed Window Sheet (also in the mini) on a Night of Navy cardstock background,  I tore pieces of silver and Bashful Blue and glued them along the bottom. Then I stamped the bear and the icefloat with Bashful Blue ink and the bear accessories and greeting in Real Red. To embellish, I used ribbon in the same colours and the jumbo brads.

This stamp set is not just for Christmas as it can be used for all the Winter months. This card would be great to include with a gift such as a mug and cocoa, a scarf and mitts or a sweater.

Don’t think it, ink it!

Simple Saturday Skeleton

 Stampin Up Twick or Tweet

This Simple Saturday card uses the new Holiday Mini stamp set, Twick or Tweet, a set of 4 stamps for $24.95. The other images include pumpkins, a bird and ghosts. All the images are "friendly" and woud be great for making school projects for kids.

For this card, I used the new Night and Day Specialty designer paper also in the Holiday Mini.  I layered the stamped image onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then onto a pattern from the paper. The long border piece below the Whisper White cardstock is another pattern from the Night and Day paper. This paper can be used for alot of cards since it is not very Halloween-y.

To finish, I tied a length of the wide Black Grosgran ribbon around the Whisper White cardstock and knotted it. An easy card, great if you need to make multiple cards for Halloween.

Joy Times Two

Published by Darlene McCallum under Card Samples

Stampin Up Delightful Decorations

I love the two different looks in these cards.

Although I used the same layout, cardstock, designer paper and ink, the cards are unique.

Stampin Up Delightful Decorations

For the first card, I used a brocade design found on one of the papers in the Christmas Cocoa designer series paper package. This paper has a Real Red background and soft flocking on the white pattern. The ribbon is double stitched Real Red tying together the red and white monochromatic look.

I like the simple elegance of this card.

Stampin Up Delightful Decorations

This second card has a more down to earth feel to it. I used the same Christmas Cocoa designer series paper, this time choosing a striped pattern that uses Soft Suede with the Real Red. The Sleigh Bells ribbon is also new to the Holiday Mini catalogue and has the same colours.

I love the simplicity of this earthy card.

Serene Snowflakes

Published by Darlene McCallum under Card Samples

Stampin' Up! Serene Snowflakes

I am having so much fun creating with my Holiday Mini stamp sets and accessories! Everything I am showing you during the Sneak Peek will be available to order September 1st. If you are on my mailing list, your mini catalogues should be arriving shortly. If you would like to receive a copy, e-mail me.

Todays card features the new Shimmer Paints and the Serene Snowflakes stamp set. Instead of using ink to stamp, I applied the Shimmer Paints directly to the stamps with a sponge dauber.

The Platinum Shimmer Paint was used on the large snowflake and the Frost White and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paints were stamped onto the other pieces of Bella Bleu designer series paper as seen below with smaller snowflake stamps. The pieces of Bella Bleu are layered onto Very Vanilla, Kraft and Not Quite Navy.

To dress the card up a bit more, I tied White Taffeta ribbon and silver cord behind the large snowflake. Small rhinestone brads finish the card.

Holiday Mini Sneak Peek #2

Stampin Up Autumn Splendor

Today’s share is another Holiday Mini Sneak Peek.

The theme is Autumn. Autumn Splendor is a beautiful stamp set with four images - three leaves and an acorn stamp. The images have wonderful fine lines and great shapes.

The Autumn Meadows designer series paper matches the stamp set and has the following colours in it: Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, More Mustard, Taken with Teal and Very Vanilla. I love how the addition of Taken with Teal to these papers really brighten them up.

Stampin Up Craft Pads

I inked up the largest leaf stamp with More Mustard craft ink. Then using sponge daubers, I dabbed on craft ink in Chocolate Chip and Taken with Teal. After huffing to re-moisten, I stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

Stampin Up Big Shot Lattice                                                                                                                  To create the Teal border. I ran a piece of the Autumn Meadows dsp through the Big Shot using the Lattice die. I then cut the design down to fit onto the card.

Chocolate Chip ribbon is wrapped around a piece of More Mustard cardstock and adhered over the Lattice.

Stampin Up Grommets

I  inserted three small Very Vanilla Grommets and set them using a bone folder to fold down the prongs.

Then, using a paper-piercing tool, I made holes for the 5/16" jumbo brads and inserted a Chocolate Chip brad into the center of each grommet.

I was surpised by how much I loved the Autumn Meadows designer series paper. The photo below shows all 12 designs included in the package. Which is your favourite?
