This week’s Simple Saturday card is all about black and white. How simple is that!
On a card of Basic Black cardstock, I layered Whisper White and a design from the new Night and Day Specialty paper in the Holiday Mini. Although this paper is shown with the Halloween stamps, it is not just for Halloween. As you can see this is a subtle flower-like design that has no relation to Halloween. And it makes a great background for this image from the Leaf Lines stamp set, $ 27.95, page 111, set of 6. A ribbon tie of the wide black Grosgrain completes the card.

Since I haven’t cleaned off my stamping table in a couple of days, my Big Shot Flower Folds die and Bella Bleu paper were both still handy. So I decided to try another sweet treat cups card. And this one will fit into the matching envelope.

Both the Sweet Teat cups and padded envelopes will be available to order on September 1st.

I love how you can create two very different looking cards from one template.
Both of these cards use the same layout yet the card on the left has a more elegant feel than the fun card on the right. Both cards use only two colours plus a neutral and both were embellished with ribbon and an accent from the Pretties Kit but each card is unique. That’s what I enjoy about stamping – I am inspired by so many of the cards I see and with a few simple tweaks and design changes the card is all mine.

This card uses the Bella Bleu designer series paper, which is quickly becoming a favourite, on Not Quite Navy textured cardstock. The card is wrapped with ribbon from the Elementary Ribbon Originals and three medium pearls from the Pretties Kit are adhered along the bottom. A quick and easy card that expresses your message simply and elegantly.

This card features the Razzleberry Lemonade designer series paper on Rich Razzleberry textured cardstock. The designer series paper is wrapped with the polka dot grosgrain ribbon in Rich Razzleberry, polka dots down. The Pretties kit is used again here with the medium rhinestone brads. As I didn’t want the brads to be visible inside the card, I removed the rhinestone from the brad by opening the prongs in the back holding them in place and adhered only the rhinestone to the bottom of the card.

The new Holiday Mini has Sweet Treat Cups and envelopes and a stamp set, Sweet Centers to match. How easy is it to include a special little something for the sweet people you want to gift with an unusual card? The cups can be filled with candy or something with less calories like glitter, sparkles, punches or really anything that will fit into the cup.
On this card, I used the Big Shot Flower Folds die and cut out the centers to fit around the cups.
After using the Big Shot and the Flower Folds die to cut the largest flower, I used my paper snips to cut just inside the fold line and remove the center.

Next, I overlapped one of the flower petals and adhered creating a flower ring that will fit easily right over the Sweet Treat cups.

To create a cardstock ring that will cover the layered flowers and make the center look finished, I made 2″ circle with my Circle Scissor Plus and punched out the center with a 1-3/4″ circle punch.
To finish the flower, I layered the three flower rings using adhesive between each layers to keep them in place. The cardstock ring that I punched out was glued on top to cover the flower. Cut out petals were used as leaves and designer series paper and ribbon embellish the card top. Last, a greeting as added.
This is an easy way to create alot of petals without stamping and making a “sweet” flower card.

I’m still creating cards using my fun, new products from the Holiday Mini and I’m loving all of it!
Today’s card uses a stamp set called Cold & Cuddly featuring some icy animal friends. I used the polar bear on my card and the set also has a walrus and a penguin. Don’t you love his toque?
For this card, I adhered a Snowfall Printed Window Sheet (also in the mini) on a Night of Navy cardstock background, I tore pieces of silver and Bashful Blue and glued them along the bottom. Then I stamped the bear and the icefloat with Bashful Blue ink and the bear accessories and greeting in Real Red. To embellish, I used ribbon in the same colours and the jumbo brads.
This stamp set is not just for Christmas as it can be used for all the Winter months. This card would be great to include with a gift such as a mug and cocoa, a scarf and mitts or a sweater.
