Boxing Day is December 26, the day after Christmas and is celebrated in Canada and Great Britain as well as Australia, New Zealand and other countries with English origins.
Although no one seems certain how Boxing Day began there are two popular theories. The first is that Boxing Day was a holiday for servants and tradesmen who had to work Christmas Day to allow their employers to celebrate Christmas. As servants prepared to leave to visit their families, their employers would present them with gift boxes containing food and clothing. The gifts were an expression of gratitude for a job well done.
The second theory is that Boxing Day comes from the tradition of opening the alms boxes placed in churches over the Christmas season. Parishoners deposited coins for the poor and on the day after Christmas the boxes were opened and the coins distributed to the poor by the clergy.
Today, Boxing Day has evolved from a charitable day to an extended Christmas holiday. Boxing day is a national holiday which is a highly anticipated. As presents have been opened and dinner has been eaten, it’s a holiday best spent lounging around with family.
Also, retail stores offers some of the best deals of the year. Shoppers across Canada flock to their favourite stores in order to save and get the best bargains available. Boxing Day often has as many traditions for Canadians as Christmas itself.

Isn’t this a geat way to use up your scraps? Here I used the Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper but cardstock would work as well. This technique is called Herringbone from the Technique Junkies newsletter. I love the colours in the paper – Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence and Old Olive.
Although this technique can be a little time consuming, the finished card is worth it. And the background created needs just a small image or greeting to finish the card. I stamped an image from the Matchbox Messages stamp set with Rich Razzleberry ink and layered the "just a little thanks" onto punched pieces of cardstock.
If you want to learn new techniques and make fun projects, make sure you check out My Events Calendar and register today for a class.

It’s okay. You can do it. You can colour outside the lines. In fact, for this card you’ll want to!
Here, I stamped a flower from the Embrace Life stamp set on watercolor paper with Black StazOn ink and let it dry for a moment. Next, I picked up colour from the Rose Red Watercolor Wonder Crayon with an aqua painter. After colouring around the edge of the flower, I used the Regal Rose crayon with an aqua painter to blend the colour a bit. Finally, with a Rose Red marker, I coloured the center of the flower.
All that was left was to embellish. Two different patterns from the Thoroughly Modern designer series paper were used to highlight the cardstock. To finish, I added white ribbon and brads. Hope you like it!

It’s so simple to make cards when you use a Stampin’ Up! designer series paper as a background. Here I used the Holiday Lounge DSP.
I layered the Holiday Lounge paper onto Ruby Red cardstock and inserted Ruby Red brads from the Earth Elements set into holes made with the paper piercing tool.
Next, I stamped the greeting from the Sparkly & Bright stamp set in the bottom right corner with Ruby Red ink. After creating ovals with my Big Shot die-cut machine, I stamped the Sparkly & Bright Santa in Ruby Red ink onto a die-cut oval and layered it onto a larger oval of Ruby Red cardstock. This is a great stamp set for cards, tags, and so much more. I love that the greeting is included.

This Simple Saturday card uses only one stamp - a greeting from Four the Holidays. I stamped in the same colour as the cardstock, Taken with Teal for a tone one tone look.
Instead of a stamped image, I used two strips of the Holiday Lounge designer series paper. I love this paper!
The only embellishment is Kraft Taffeta ribbon and the bow that I tied and adhered on top with a mini glue dot.
Easy! And a great card for "assembly line stamping".

I love quick and easy cardmaking. And I love Chocolate Chip as a neutral colour to build a card around.
This card is simple stamping with only one image, the sleigh from the Wandering Words stamp set . This set also has an image for Valentines Day and for Fall, so it is a set you can use alot. See it on page 16 of the Holiday Mini.
I love the Tempting Turquoise paired with the Chocolate Chip. It really makes the card pop. But it just needed a little more embellishing so I added a Playground button with a clear Rhinestone brad in the center. Thread the prongs of the brad through the button hole and fold the prongs down. If needed, trim the prongs a bit with scissors so the button sits flat. Next, I glued a piece of Chocolate Chip ribbon from the Masterpiece Ribbon Originals down bunching the ribbon on the left side. To get this look, put down a strip of adhesive and then loop the ribbon and tack down. Don’t you love the scallops on this ribbon?
