I ordered the Tags til Christmas stamp set a few weeks ago and put it aside thinking that I wouldn’t use it until December and I was making tags. Wrong! This stamp set makes great cards. And bonus – 8 of the 9 images have coordinating punches available.
I stamped the ornament image in Always Artichoke ink on Whisper White cardstock and added a “Merry Christmas” greeting from the All Holidays stamp set in the same colour. I wrapped a length of Cherry Cobbler seam binding between the two stamped images and adhered the seam binding on the back. Next, I layered Cherry Cobbler and then Always Artichoke cardstock behind the Whisper White piece.
I cut a second piece of the seam binding so it had a very narrow width at the tip , almost like a needle, and threaded it through the holes of the Always Artichoke button from the Deck the Halls Big Designer Button package.
The Crumb Cake cardstock was scored at 1/4″, 3/8″, 1-3/8″, 1-1/2″, 3-3/4″, 3-7/8″, 4-7/8″ and 5″ before I adhered it to the Always Artichoke card. A 2″ x 4″ piece of the Deck the Halls designer series paper fits right between the score lines.

Today’s technique is a 2 for 1 – Burnishing and Sponging.
Sponging creates a textured, rough look on cardstock while burnishing has a smooth, consistent look. So often, I see stampers sponging their projects when they really meant to burnish that I created a video tutorial showing the two techniques.

This card uses on of my favourite stamp sets from the Holiday Mini Catalogue, French Foliage. I love the detail on the images and how realistic the images seem. The colours I seem to reach for over and over with this card are Cajun Craze, Early Espresso and More Mustard. And this card is no different.
I added brads and a buttons to embellish the card as well as a strip of the Autumn Spice Specialty Designer Series Paper behind the stamped and burnished image.
The weather here is nice and warm today and according to the forecast it will be through the weekend. But snow can arrive so quickly that I want to think Fall for as long as I can. And this set helps me do just that!
I’m a big chicken. I don’t like horror movies and I don’t like scary Halloween themes.
But this set is so adorable I couldn’t not get it. Isn’t the little fang-tastic vampire sweet? Never thought I would say that about a vampire.
I picked the striped patterned paper from the Wicked FunSpecialty paper package and designed my card in the same colours. The card is Old Olive, the Spider Web embossed background is Basic Black and the cardstock under the striped paper is Rich Razzleberry.
I stamped the little vampire from the Fang-tastic stamp set in Basic Black and coloured him with Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Tangerine Tango inks and a blender pen. (The paper has Cajun Craze instead of Tangerine Tango but I think he looked better in the brighter colour.)
I punched him out with the new 2-1/2″ Circle Punch from the Holiday Mini catalogue and also added a punched greeting. I added a Glimmer Brad in Rich Razzlebery to the greeting. These brads are awesome! Just one or two on a card or project really make a difference.
I finished the card with a length of wide Old Olive grosgrain ribbon and a knot of the narrow Rich Razzleberry grosgrain ribbon.
The other large image in this stamp set is a friendly witch. And her matching greeting is “witch way to the candy?” Love it! Watch for another sample later this week using this set again with the Mini Lunch Sacks.
Halloween is only 33 days away. Have you ordered your supplies yet?
I made this Candy Cane Christmas wrapper as one of four projects for my team meeting tonight. And it is definitely the project that was easiest to create.
I knew as soon as I opened the Candy Cane Christmas specialty designer series paper exactly what colours I would use for this candy wrapper. What makes this paper a specialty paper package is the red glitter on some of the patterns. Can you see it?
I created the candy wrapper from Baja Breeze cardstock another one of the colours included on the Candy Cane Christmas paper. The snowflake was made using the Northern Frost decorative strip for the Big Shot from Blushing Bride paper. And, of course, I had to add a Real Red Glimmer Brad to the center of the snowflake to match the glitter on the paper.
While pink snowflakes are not natural, pink is one of the popular colours for Christmas this year. And on this project it really works.
After making a couple of the wrappers, I have figured out how to make the assembly easier. Here are three tips: with a bone folder or your fingers, crease all of the score lines to make assembly faster, apply sticky strip from side to side at the end of the wrapper skipping over the cut outs, press in and twist the ends with four fingers, one in each space to close.
I plan to use this die year round – New Years, Valentines, Easter, etc. What a great investment.
