Flower Garden Embossing Folder

Flower Garden Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

I love messy stamping! Today I just had to get my hands dirty. I was smooshing craft ink on paper, had embossing powder from one end of the table to the other and generally just left a huge mess everywhere. And it felt good!

Cleaning up didn’t feel so good but a clean work surface is just a reason to start again, right?!

For this "messy" card, I embossed on Basic Black cardstock with the Flower Garden Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the Big Shot and sprayed Silver Foil Smooch Spritz over the cardstock. Once dry, I layered the Basic Black cardstock onto Brushed Silver cardstock and added a length of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding to the card.

Next, I adhered this piece to a card of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

To finish, I added "Thanks" from the Thank You Kindly stamp set and circle punched the greeting. The "bow" is three pieces of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding held together with a Silver Glimmer Brad

This ended up being a really simple card to make. If you needed an elegant thank you card for a wedding, anniversary, business or just because, I recommend this one.

Delicate Doilies with Flirtatious Sneak Peek

Delicate Doilies stamp set with Flirtatious paper

Flirtatious is another of the new product suites featured in the upcoming 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalogue.

Included in the suite is Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Paper and Delicate Doilies stamp set both of which I used for this card. Also included in the suite is the new Lace Ribbon border punch and matching Flirtatious fabric. You’re going to love it!

The colours in the Flirtatious designer series paper are Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink, Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White.

For this card, I also used the new Perfect Pennants die for the Big Shot to create the scallop circle die cuts that I placed behind the Melon Mambo stamped doily.  These circle are pretty on their own and fabulous when layered together.

There are only 11 days left to shop from the Last Chance lists. Click on the button below to see up to date availablility as well as the sale prices for those accessories reduced up to 40%.

Four Frames and Paisley Petals #1

Four Frames and Paisley Petals Card

The Spring is Blossoming promotion continues!

For the month of April, you can purchase the Fours Frames stamp set and Paisley Petals designer series paper with a $25 minimum purchase. Both the stamp set and paper are from the upcoming Idea Book & Catalogue and will not be available again until July 1st, 2011.

I am working on a bunch of samples using the Four Frames stamp set and Paisley Prints paper so check back often this week.

This card was sooo easy to make. I simply stamped a greeting from Say It Simply inside one of the frames from the Four Frames stamp set and punched the image out with the coordinating Decorative Label punch. Have you overlooked the Say It Simply stamp set on page 41 of the Occasions Mini catalogue? I have used this stamp set so much lately and it’s only $9.95.

The card itself is Cherry Cobbler with Marina Mist and Bashful Blue cardstocks. I created a scallop edge at the bottom of the middle piece using the Tasteful Trim die for the Big Shot

The highlight of the card is the Paisley Petals designer series paper. The papers in the package are wonderfully bold and striking designs. The colours included in this paper are: Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Chip, Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, River Rock, Soft Suede and Tangerine Tango.

A bow of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding to "tie" it all together and my card was done.

I find it really easy to create with the Four Frames stamp set and Paisley Petals designer series paper from the Spring is Blossoming promotion. Order yours today and don’t forget to add the Decorative Label punch and Say it Simply stamp set to your order.

Summer Mini Sneak Peek: Flower Fest

Flower Fest Stamp Set

One of my favourite stamp sets in the past was the now retired Mixed Bouquet. I loved the modern flowers and the variety of shapes and sizes in that stamp set.

So, I was thrilled to see Flower Fest in the upcoming Summer Mini 2011 catalogue because it reminds me so much of my old favourite. And Flower Fest features a big improvement – the flowers in this set all fit one of Stampin’ Up!’s punches. Yeah!

I wanted to create a clean and simple card for an upcoming class so I decided to stamp the flowers in Poppy Parade ink and then punch them out with the 1-3/8" circle. I created a card of Crumb Cake cardstock with a layered Pear Pizzazz Top Note die.

I added layers of Poppy Parade and Whisper White cardstock with a polka dot patterned paper from the In Color Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack. This paper is so versatile that I leave it out on my desk because I reach for it so often. Check it out on top of page 175 of the Idea Book & Catalogue.

To finish the card, I added Poppy Parade 1/2" Stitched Ribbon and a greeting from another new stamp set, Happy Greetings.

Summer Mini Sneak Peek: Fabulous Florets

Fabulous Florets Card

Today’s sneak peek features several new products from the soon to be available Summer Mini Catalogue.

This card uses a flower stamp from the new set Fabulous Florets stamp set plus lots of new accessories – Melon Mambo embossing powder, Beyond the Garden designer series paper and the Flower Garden embossing folder. Trust me! There are lots of great new stamp sets and accessories coming soon.

To make this card, I stamped the flower with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed with the Melon Mambo embossing powder. The center of the flower was coloured in with a Wild Wasabi marker. The flower was cut out with the Circles #2 die for the Big Shot (this die is a must for layering wit the 2-1/2" circle punch) and layered onto a punched 2-1/2" Basic Black cardstock circle.

Next I layered a Melon Mambo and Wild Wasabi patterned paper from the Beyond the Garden paper pack onto Basic Black cardstock and created layering pieces of Melon Mambo cardstock embossed with the Sqaure Lattice folder and a greeting from the Fabulous Florets stamp set both also layered onto Basic Black cardstock.

Before assembling the card I embossed Wild Wasabi cardstock with the new Flower Garden embossing folder. This folder is so pretty as a background or as the main image on your card.

Summer Mini Sneak Peek: Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch

Blossom Bouquet Tripley Layer Punch Inlaid embossing card

I promise you. You are going to want this punch. In fact, you can add it to your Summer Mini Catalogue wish list right now!

All of these blossom punched shapes came from one punch, the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch. It is really three punches in one. Depending on the setting you choose from the sliding lever, you get one of three unique punched shape or shapes. So cool!

I made this card using Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery cardstocks, one of my favourite subtles colour combinations. After adhering the punches to the Whisper White cardstock, I used the Inlaid Embossing technique on the card with the Square Lattice embossing folder for the Big Shot.

A really quick and easy card thanks to the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch.

Embossed in Black and White

Elements of Style in Black and White

I absolutely love making black and white cards. I can still remember the first black and white stamped card I ever saw since it made such an impression on me.

Black and white cards are so elegant and seem to come together quickly since I am only focused on using the two colours (and some may argue only one colour since white doesn’t count).

And when I think of elegant cards, the Elements of Style stamp set is usually the first set that comes to my mind.

For this card. I stamped the large floral image onto Whisper White cardstock with Basic Black ink and let it dry. Then, I embossed the Finial Press embossing folder over the stamped piece with the Big Shot. Although this card would have looked okay without the embossing, I think the added texture makes the card special.

So what about you? Are you a fan of black and white cards? Please leave a comment and let me know. Thanks!

I found this stamp set really easy to use. I love the images – "H" hope, the wordsir, a butterfly and a baroque image – and their sizing is just right for card and other projects.

First, I made the tag using the Two Tags bigz die and Finial Press embossing folder for the Big Shot die-cutting machine. I rubbed my Crumb Cake ink pad over the top of the tag to accent the raised images.

Next, I stamped the H hope image and punched it out with the 1-1/4" square punch before layering it onto a Pretty in Pink cardstock punched Scallop Square. The butterfly was stamped in Pretty in Pink ink onto another piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and the words were stamped on top with Crumb Cake ink.

Don’t you love this combination of words? Definitely the strength part of this stamp set. I also stamped the baroque image in Crumb Cake ink and punched it with the smallest oval. I sponged Pretty in Pink ink around the edges of this piece.

To assemble the tag, I added Very Vanilla seam binding to the top and tied it with linen thread. I used a Vintage Trinkets safety pin to add the oval. I adhered the butterfly/words stamped piece to the tag and then added the H hope stamped piece with dimensionals. The last embellishment was a Vintage Trinket brad with a center Basic Pearl and folded Chantilly Crochet Trim.

I plan to use this Strength & Hope tag as a bookmark but it could be easily added to a card as well.

Fun Flowers Daffodil Delight Card

Fun Flowers Bigz Die Card

This was a fun card to make!

First, I ran three different colours of cardstock – Daffodil Delight, Basic Black and Whisper White – through my Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine using the new Fun Flowers Bigz Die from the Occasions Mini Catalogue. And the fun part? Layering the flowers with different combinations of colours and sizes. It’s like doing a puzzle!

Once I decided on this combination for my first card, I added a Basic Black Glimmer Brad to the center to hold the flower in place.

Next, I stamped the "Friend" greeting from the You’re a Gem stamp set in Basic Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the Modern Label Punch. I punched a second Modern Label from Basic Black cardstock and cut it on half vertically to layer behind the first piece.

The Daffodil Delight patterned paper is from the Sweet Stitches designer series paper package. I thought it worked really well with his card and the Basic Black and Daffodil Delight Grosgrain ribbons I used as an accent. Please leave me a comment if you like this card or have any questions on the Fun Flowers Bigz die.

Scallop Envelope Box and Gift Cards

Stampin Up Canada Big Shot Scallop Envelope

This video tutorial shows you how to turn the Scallop Envelope Bigz die for the Big Shot die-cutting machine into a cute box that holds three or four 3×3 gift cards.

By cutting out two Cherry Cobbler scallop envelopes, trimming and placing them back to back a wide slot is made to hold the gift cards. The box is decorated in a matching Cherry Cobbler patterned paper from the Jolly Holiday designer series paper package.

The 3×3 gift cards fit perfectly. The cards are embossed witht the Petal-a-Plenty embossing folder for the Big Shot before a "Merry Christmas" greeting from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set was added in Cherry Cobbler ink.

Scroll down to watch the video. (If you received this message by e-mail or in a blog reader, you may need to visit my blog to see the link.)

REMINDER: The Clearance Rack Blitz and Free Craft Tote Special both end on Monday. Don’t be disappointed!

Poppy Parade Daisy

Stampin up Poppy Parade

Poppy Parade is another one of this years new In Colors. Don’t you love it?

Although I would consider Poppy Parade a red it has a definite hint of orange to it as well. Since it is such a vibrant colour, I knew it would pair well with the Newsprint designer series paper that will be in the next catalogue. These papers are really neat – dictionary pages, old catalogues, vintage maps, music and more. And do you wanna know a secret? The new catalogue has coordinating sets and accessories for this vintage looking paper. The Newsprint designer series paper is Basic Black and Very Vanilla so I choose to use only those colours with Poppy Parade for this card.

To make this card, I Iayered a 3-1/2 x 4-3/4" piece of Newsprint paper onto 3-5/8" x 4-7/8" Basic Black cardstock. I wrapped this piece with Basic Black satin ribbon and Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon tying a small knot in the grosgrain.

I made the daisy with the Daisies #2 die for the Big Shot in layers of Basic Black, Poppy Parade and Newsprint paper. To hold the flower together, I added a 5/8" Vanilla jumbo brad to the center.

After adding a greeting in Basic Black ink on Newsprint paper and punching with the Modern Label punch,  I layered onto a larger piece of Poppy Parade cardstock and added a 5/16" vanilla jumbo brad.

Finally, I layered Poppy Parade cardstock onto a Basic Black card and assembled the pieces. A really easy card!

This card has more of a shabby chic look to it than most of my cards. Do you like it? Please leave a comment and let me know.

One Card, Two Ways – Beautiful Butterflies

Stampin' Up! Big Shot Die - Beautiful Butterflies

It isn’t often that I can walk into my craft room and walk out 10 minutes later with two cards. And I like both of them!

That is the beauty of the Big Shot die-cut machine. It cuts shapes and makes backgrounds in no time and helps me create cards and projects effortlessly. Before I ordered the Big shot,  I wasn’t sure I would ever use it. Wrong! The Big Shot is probably the best stamping investment I have made.

For these cards, I layered Whisper White cardstock on either Melon Mambo or Tempting Turquoise cardstock and then added a third layer on top in the same colour. This top layer was embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder.

Next, I layered a 1-3/4" wide strip of designer series paper – Razzleberry Lemonade or Island Oasis (from the Summer Mini) onto a 2" piece of Whisper White cardstock.

After cutting out the butterflies with the Big Shot and the Beautiful Butterflies bigz die, I layered a coloured butterfly onto a Whisper White butterfly and added a white flower button from the Button Latte pack with a mini glue dot.

Finally, I stamped the "thanks so much" greeting from the Three Little Words stamp set in the corresponding colour of ink and punched it out with the Word Window punch. I then layered it onto a Modern Label punched piece and then a piece created with the Movers & Shapers Punch Window die that is slightly larger. The greetings were attached with dimensionals.

So, do you have a favourite card? I really can’t decide.

But I know that when stamping is this fun and easy, it’s gonna be a great day!
