A Greeting Card Kids Witch

Stampin Up Canada Greeting Card Kids Witch Card

Can you believe Halloween is right around the corner? I can’t.  We are only days away from November.

My big decision this week?  What kinds of candy to give out Halloween night. I seem to always overbuy so the leftovers are just hanging around waiting to be eaten. Thankfully I am not a huge fan of candy (cakes and cookies are my thing) but when the candy snacking urge hits I want it to be something that satisfies my craving. Chocolate bars, candy corn, jujubes, twizzlers – see my dilemma?

Isn’t this little witch from the Greeting Card Kids stamp set adorable? I didn’t buy alot of Halloween stamp sets this year because my kids are too old to celebrate it at school and I don’t send Halloween cards. But this stamp set is so much more than Halloween. Scroll down this blog post to see the other images in this stamp set including Christmas, Valentines and everyday.

To make this card, I stamped the little witch image onto Watercolor Paper using Black StazOn ink and then coloured the image in with aqua painters and various colours of ink.

I added a Halloween greeting from the Grateful Greetings stamp set to the Whisper White card. A strip of Wicked Fun Specialty Designer Series Paper was layered onto Old Olive cardstock.  Next, I added two Old Olive Glimmer Brads along the side for a bit of bling.

Finally, I layered my stamped and coloured image onto Rich Razzleberry cardstock and added it to the card with dimensionals for a clean and simple card.

Fang-tastic Halloween Treat Bag

Stampin up Fang-tastic stamp set

Isn’t this little Halloween Treat Bag cute?

I used the Spider Web embossing folder on a Mini Lunch Sack. These "just right" sized bags can be seen on page 13 of the Holiday Mini catalogue. My first try at embossing them was not so good but you can learn from my mistakes. A couple of tips: remove the bottom liner from inside the bag and fold the bottom of the bag down so the embossing folder can fit the entire bag. Also, if the sandwich is to tight, the bags can tear so do not use a shim and you may want to even step down a tab.

I stamped the adorable witch from the Fang-tastic stamp set in Basic Black ink and coloured her with Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive inks using a Blender Pen.  Once the witch was finished, I punched her out with the 2-1/2" circle punch.

Next, I stamped and punched the greeting and added a Glimmer Brad in Pumpkin Pie

The final touches were Rich Razzleberry grosgrain ribbon and a strip of Wicked Fun designer series paper on the bag.

Scroll down to see how I made a closure for the bag using the oval greeting piece.

A Fang-tastic Halloween Card

Stampin Up Fang-tastic

I’m a big chicken. I don’t like horror movies and I don’t like scary Halloween themes.

But this set is so adorable I couldn’t not get it. Isn’t the little fang-tastic vampire sweet? Never thought I would say that about a vampire.

I picked the striped patterned paper from the Wicked Fun Specialty paper package and designed my card in the same colours. The card is Old Olive, the Spider Web embossed background is Basic Black and the cardstock under the striped paper is Rich Razzleberry.

I stamped the little vampire from the Fang-tastic stamp set in Basic Black and coloured him with Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Tangerine Tango inks and a blender pen. (The paper has Cajun Craze instead of Tangerine Tango but I think he looked better in the brighter colour.)

I punched him out with the new 2-1/2" Circle Punch from the Holiday Mini catalogue and also added a punched greeting. I added a Glimmer Brad in Rich Razzlebery to the greeting. These brads are awesome!  Just one or two on a card or project really make a difference.

I finished the card with a length of wide Old Olive grosgrain ribbon and a knot of the narrow Rich Razzleberry grosgrain ribbon.

The other large image in this stamp set is a friendly witch. And her matching greeting is "witch way to the candy?" Love it!   Watch for another sample later this week using this set again with the Mini Lunch Sacks.

Halloween is only 33 days away. Have you ordered your supplies yet?

Northern Flurry in Black and White

Northern Flurry by Stampin Up

This Northern Flurry card is for a Holiday Mini catalogue swap I am participating in this week.  I wanted to show off the Black Flourish Designer Jewels and how better than black and white.

I embossed my Whisper White cardstock with the new Big Shot embossing folder, Northern Flurry and then layered it onto Basic Black cardstock and then onto a Whisper White card. I added the black jewels by size – the largest jewel on the largest snowflake. Finally, I added a bow made from Whisper White taffeta ribbon and the Raven lace trim. I found that layering the two ribbons gave the bow more substance and showed off the lace a little bit better.

Want to see more samples from the swap?  I will be posting them on my Facebook page over the next while. Click on the logo below to visit my Facebook page and click on the "like" button so you can see all the swap cards as they are posted.

Note:  Customers on my mailing list and those who requested the Holiday Mini catalogues before August 27th should have the catalogue in their mailboxes. Unfortunately, I have heard from many of you that the catalogues mailed directly from Stampin’ Up! have not shown up and so will need to be re-sent. If you still need a mini catalogue, please email me so I can get one in the mail to you ASAP.  Thanks!

A Cute Christmas Pyramid Card

Stampin Up A Cute Christmas Set

The wait is over! My Holiday Mini catalogiue pre-order has arrived. It was so exciting to open the box and see all the new Halloween, Fall and Christmas products.

One of the first products that caught my eye was the Candy Cane Specialty designer series paper that I used on this card. Can you see the red glitter stripes and polka dots? Wow!

Since I couldn’t decide which paper in this package to use first, I decided to make a pyramid card so I could use multiple patterns. Click here to see another example of a pyramid card.

After layering the various papers, I stamped a snowman and greeting from A Cute Christmas in Real Red ink and coloured the snowman in with markers. Scroll down for a tip to make your stamping easier. The only other embellishment on this card is a Real Red Big Designer Button with Blushing Bride "paper thread".

One of my favourite things about this new Holiday Mini catalogue is the fact that Stampin’ Up! has highlighted two different themes.  The first is Deck the Halls which features Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke and Crumb Cake. The second theme is Candy Cane which I used on my card. The featured colours for this theme are Real Red, Garden Green, Baja Breeze and Blushing Bride.

Deck the Halls is a little more elegant and Candy Cane is a little more fun and whimsical.

Both themes have designer series paper, fabric, buttons, ribbons and stamps to match.  This years Christmas card will be a snap!

Sneak Peek – Holiday Mini 2010

Stampin Up Peaceful Season

It’s time to start thinking about Christmas? Really.

The weather here is beautiful and sunny and yet I just placed my demonstrator pre-order from the 2010 Holiday Mini Catalogue.

You will love the new stamp sets and accessories in the Stampin’ Up! Mini catalogue. New punches, glass glitter, fabric, glimmer brads, black lace and rhinestones and more.

Can’t wait to see the Holiday Mini for yourself?

Click here to request your free copy of the Holiday Mini which will begin mailing about August 15th.

This card uses the new Holiday Mini hostess stamp set Peaceful Season and the new designer series paper Deck the Halls.

The ink is Cherry Cobbler which is featured in many of the Holiday Mini samples. I used Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla cardstock as well as the Victoria Lace crochet trim shown on page 190 of the Idea Book & Catalogue.

Since the Very Vanilla cardstock and Victoria Lace crochet trim seemed really stark on this card, I used the Log Cabin Smooch Spritz on  various elements of the card, including the lace, to tone them done a bit. This also gave the card a vintage look that I really like.

Enjoy!

Too Easy! Perfect Polka Dots

Stampin' Up! Perfect Polka Dots

Can a card be too easy to make? This card certainly comes close.

I used only two colours of cardstock for this card (well, one is Whisper White, does that even count?)  and no stamps or ink except for the inside greeting.

I ran a piece of Real Red cardstock through the Big Shot die-cut machine with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder.  I love this folder! It adds a bit of pizzazz to any card and is so easy to use.

Next, I made a heart with the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit Die and the Big Shot and adhered the heart to the card with dimensionals.

To finish, I added a couple of Whisper White Jumbo Brads in the bottom right corner and assembled the card. So easy!

Order the Perfect Polka Dot Impression Folder and Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit today so you have time to make your own "so simple" Valentines Day cards.

With All My Heart

Stampin' Up! With All My Heart

I think this may be my favourite designer series paper – EVER!

I hope you can see the glitter on the pink heart and background paper. That fabulous sparkle is part of the design of the paper so no messy glue is required. And each page has glitter on one side so you are receiving 12 glittery sheets, 2 each of 6 designs for $15.95. Love it!

This card is just a little dressed up but not so complicated that you couldn’t make a bunch of these. If you, like me, didn’t send out as many Christmas cards as you wanted to, break with tradition and send Valentine’s cards this year instead. Since people receive so many less personal cards this time of year, your thoughtfulness will really stand out.

For this card, I stamped the greeting from the With All My Heart stamp set in Real Red Classic Ink.  Then I snipped the prongs off the back of a Sending Love Real Red Epoxy Brad heart design and adhered it over the little stamped heart with a stampin’ dimensional. Next, I punched the Scallop Trim Edge punch along the Real Red cardstock and layered Whisper White cardstock and Sending Love Specialty designer series paper on top.  You can see the Sending Love Collection on pages 12 and 13 of the Occasions Mini catalogue.  Click Here to see the Occasions Mini catalogue.

Next, I created a scallop heart with the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit and punched a Full Heart from the Sending Love designer series paper. To finish, I tied the layered cardstock with Real Red Satin Ribbon and created a cardstock square to help highlight the heart. Adhere it all together and you are done!

Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it so get started today! I am!

Simple Saturday – An Oldie but Goodie

Published by under 3D Samples,Holidays

Stampin Up!

I cannot even remember the first time I made a Triangle Box but I do remember how easy it was to assemble. And I know I have made alot more since that first time.

Today, I used the Haunting Hill Jumbo Wheel – $9.95, #116359 - and Twick or Tweet Stamp Set – $24.95, #116497 – both on page 10 of the Holiday Mini to give my Triangle Box a Halloween theme.

For this Triangle Box, I cut my Pumpkin Pie cardstock to 4" x 8".  However, this box can be made in a variety of sizes by
keeping the cardstock twice as long as is it wide.

Stampin Up

Score cardstock in half at 4” on the long side. Turn cardstock and mark middle of short side at 2” with a pencil or scoring tool.

Diagonally line up the mark with the middle of the long side and score.  Repeat until you have a triangles created by the scored lines. Repeat on the other side.

Stampin Up

I wheeled the Pumpkin Pie cardstock with the Haunting Hill Jumbo Wheel and Basic Black ink.  To make the tag, I stamped the little bird also with Basic Black ink and coloured the pumpkin with the Pumpkin Pie marker. Next, I punched the image with the small tag and created a layering piece from Baic Balck cardstock and the tag punch.

Fold one side in along the scored lines and punch a hole for the ribbon with the Crop-a-dile.  Thread ribbon through hole. Fill box if desired. Bring in the opposite side and punch again. Thread ribbon through second hole, add tag and tie.
