Simple Saturday with Free Sale A Bration Sets

Sweet Summer and So Happy For You

I have to admit to looking forward to Simple Saturdays. My challenge to myself is to create a card in 5-10 minutes. That means the card needs to be quick and simple. This card was probably closer to the 5 minute mark but I have to admit that I was so into creating it that I forgot to time myself.

For this Simple Saturday card, I used the 1-3/8" circle punch to create circles from various patterns in the Lap of Luxury designer series paper. On the almost solid Pretty in Pink paper, I stamped an image from the Sweet Summer stamp set in Basic Gray ink. To the image, I added three small Basic Rhinestones for a little bling. I stamped a greeting from the So Happy for You stamp set at the bottom of the card to finish it.

Both the Sweet Summer and So Happy For You stamp sets are free during Sale A Bration this month.

Simple Saturday – Clearly for You

Clearly for You

This is one quick card which means it is perfect for Simple Saturday!

I decided to use Rose Red textured cardstock for this card to add a little more design to the background without having to do any extra work. The textured cardstock come in the 12" x 12" packages and since I store those sheets of cardstock away from my other cardstock I know I don’t reach for textured cardstock often enough.

With Rose Red ink, I stamped the square image from the Clearly for You stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock and cut it out. I then layered it onto another piece of Whisper White cardstock that was slightly larger.  The next layer was an even larger piece of Rose Red textured cardstock.

The "for you" greeting, also from the Clearly for You stamp set, was stamped onto a 1-1/2" wide piece of Whisper White cardstock and adhered it to the card. Along the bottom of the card I added five Basic Pearls as a little embellishment.

The last step was to add the stamped image with dimensionals.  A really easy card, right?

Hope you have a great weekend! Hubby is working and the kids are having friends over so I have big plans – cleaning my office. Watch for pictures of my seldom clean and rarely  picture worthy office and stamping space next week.

Simple Saturday – One Look, Two Cards

Stampin Up Canada Chrismtas Cards

These two cards use the exact same layout with different colours of cardstocks and papers.

The first card is Crumb Cake, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler cardstock with Jolly Holiday designer series paper. The second card uses Always Artichoke cardstock instead of the Old Olive and Deck the Halls designer series paper in place of the Jolly Holiday dsp.

I was surprised by how different the feel is to each of these – the card on the left is more contemporary and bright while the card on the right has a more traditonal, vintage sense to it.

For both cards I used a greeting from the Bright Christmas stamp set with Cherry Cobbler ink on a Crumb Cake card. I added a Cherry Cobbler punched ornament that I embossed with the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder for the Big Shot.

The Old Olive and Always Artichoke cardstock measures 5-1/2" x 2" and each designer series paper square is 1-3/8" x 1-3/4".

These cards were great for Simple Saturday since they were fast and easy to prep and assemble. It is also a great layout if you need to make lots of cards for any occasion.

So, what’s your preference – contemporary or traditional? Pleave leave a comment below and let me know.

Simple Saturday – A Sweet & Sour Thank You Card

Stampin Up Canada Sweet & Sour DSP

Today’s Simple Saturday card uses only two colours – Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie.

And these two colours are both used in the Sweet & Sour Specialty designer series paper (DSP) package shown on page 172 of the Idea Book & Catalogue so it seemed only natural to include this DSP in my card making as well.

I created a card of Whisper White and added a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock that is 4-1/2" x 3-1/4". The right hand side corners were rounded with the corner punch.   The next layer of cardstock is Rose Red and measures 4-1/4" x 3". Again, the right hand corners were rounded with the corner rounder punch. The last layer is Whisper White and measures 4" x 2-3/4" and of course, the corners were rounded also.

I stamped the "thanks so much" greeting from the Three Little Words stamp set in Rose Red ink. I positioned the greeting on the right hand side of the Whisper White cardstock a little ways up from the bottom.

The Sweet & Sour DSP was cut 1-1/2" wide and adhered to the Whisper White over four 3/4" punched circles that alternate between Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie. The last step was adding a length of Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon on top of the punched circles where they meet the cardstock.

Quick and easy card making for Simple Saturday.

Simple Saturday – Contempo Christmas in Baja Breeze

Stampin up Canada Contempo Christmas

This Simple Saturday card features the Contempo Christmas stamp set. Right now, and subject to change, of course, this stamp set is my favourite set for making Christmas Cards.

To keep my card making quick, I used only Baja Breeze ink and cardstock with the Whisper White cardstock.  Almost any colour would work for this card.

The layer of Baja Breeze cardstock was cut down by 1" from the size of the card to 4-1/2" x 3-1/4". The Whisper White cardstock is 4-1/4" x 3".  I stamped the greeting onto a 1" x 3" piece of Whisper White cardstock, layered it onto Baja Breeze and attached it to the card.

I stamped the ornament and punched it out with the coordinating Ornament punch. If you want, you can punch out a second ornament from Baja Breeze cardstock and put it underneath the stamped ornament. I attached this piece to the card with dimensionals.

Simple Saturday – Artistic Etchings and Love Letter

Stampin Up Artistic Etchings

Simple Saturday stamping is extra simple when your paper and stamp match! Isn’t this cool?

The same design from the the Artistic Etchings stamp is also on this paper from the Love Letter designer series package. All I had to do was layer the pieces and add some Basic Black wide grosgrain ribbon.

Speaking of ribbon, I recorded a short video on my ribbon "cheat". I like to conserve my ribbon since I use lots of it.  And this video shows a great way to add ribbon without using as much as alot of stampers do on their cards.

Scroll down to watch the video. (If you received this message by e-mail or in a blog reader, you may need to visit my blog to see the link.)

Simple Saturday – Curly Cute

Stampin Up Canada

This is a five minute card – start to finish. Really! And that includes the time I spent gathering my supplies.

For this card, I used the new Curly Cute stamp set. This is definitely my favourite new greeting set in the catalogue. And judging by how many of my customers have ordered it, yours too.

If you need a quick card or if you need alot of cards, this template is the way to go.

I used the Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper pack shown on page 174 of the catalogue.  Think of all the card combinations you can make using the greetings from Curly Cute and the 10 colors in the Brights Paper pack.  Add some ribbon and you’re finished.

Can Simple Saturday get simpler?

Simple Saturday – Morning Cup

Stampin Up Canada Morning Cup

For me, Saturday mornings are all about a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper.

And this card combines my two favourite activites by using the Morning Cup stamp set with the Newsprint designer series paper.

For this card, I cut two strips of Newsprint dsp – one 1/2" x 5" and another 3/4" x 5". I adhered them to a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock on either side of a length of 5/8" Basic Black grosgrain ribbon that had already been attached.

I glued this piece onto a layer of Very Vanilla cardstock and then onto a Basic Black card.

The image was stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock with Black StazOn ink and the heart was coloured with a Real Red marker. Then, I punched the cup image out with a 1-3/8" circle punch and adhered it to a 2" x 3" piece of Crumb Cake cardstock where I had already stamped the greeting. This piece was layered again onto a 2-1/4" x 3-1/4" piece of Basic Black cardstock. To finish, I glued the two piece together.

Enjoy your long weekend Saturday!

Simple Saturday – Artistic Etchings

Stampin Up Artistic Etchings

It’s Simple Saturday!

I find some of my simplest cards are those that are monochromatic. This one uses only Daffodil Delight with Whisper White.

So far, of all the new colours, Daffodil Delight is the one I have used most often. It works well with almost every other colour. A really pretty yellow it is not too soft or too loud – it’s "just right".

To make this card, I stamped "A Note of Thanks" in Daffodil Delight ink onto Whisper White cardstock. I then layered this piece onto a Daffodil Delight card. Next, I layered a piece of Greenhouse Gala designer series paper also in Daffodil Delight onto Daffodil Delight cardstock. This piece was cut down 1/2" on each side compared to the Whisper White cardstock to create a larger border of white.

I wrapped a length of Daffodil Delight 5/8" grosgrain ribbon around the Greenhouse Gala piece before adhering it to the card. Finally, I stamped the circle image from the Artistic Etchings stamp set in Daffodil Delight ink and punched it out with the 1-3/4" circle. After punching a 2-3/8" scallop circle in Daffodil Delight, I layered it under the first circle and attached it to the card with stampin’ dimensionals. So easy!

Have a great weekend!

Simple Saturday – A Great Friend

Stampin Up Great Friend Stamp Set

This Simple Saturday card was quick and easy!

What makes a Simple Saturday card? For me, it needs to be created in 10 minutes or less and use a minimum of supplies.

This card uses the Great Friend stamp set with a only a couple of accessories - Basic Black Satin Ribbon and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. I also used one of my favourite colours, Regal Rose. I paired it with Basic Black and Whisper White for this card to make the colour really stand out.

In place of other embellishments, I added a small bow of Basic Black Satin Ribbon.

Enjoy your weekend stamping!

A Rich Razzleberry Simple Saturday

Thankful Thinking with Rich Razzleberry dsp

This Simple Saturday card takes advantage of the Big Shot for easy card making. The only stamping on this card is "thanks" from the Thankful Thinking stamp set in Rich Razzleberry ink.

I created a card of Rich Razzleberry and added a top layer of Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder. Next, I created a piece of layered paper with a finished size of 3-1/4" x 4". I layered Rich Razzlberry and Whisper White cardstock and a top piece of polka dot Rich Razzleberry Patterns designer series paper. To this I added a length of Rich Razzleberry polka dot grosgrain ribbon, dotted side down.

Although Rich Razzleberry has been added as a permanent colour to the Brights Colour Collection in the new catalogue, the Polka Dot grosgrain ribbon and Patterns designer series papers will not carry over. Own these great products today!

It’s Simple Saturday!

Except for the So Saffron cardstock and ink, all of the products used on this card will be retiring this month and are available only while supplies last.

Including the stamp set, Very Thankful. This stamp set was the Stampin’ Up! "Making a Difference" set this year which means that $2 from each set sold is donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

To complete this card, I also used the Flock Together designer series paper and one of my favourite ribbons, Elementary Ribbon Originals.  Click Here for an up to date list of Last Chance retiring accessories.
