Simple Saturday – Chic Boutique

Stampin' Up! Chic Boutique

This Simple Saturday card features the Chic Boutique stamp set. Using only Real Red and Whisper White with a minimum of embellishments, I created a quick and simple birthday card.

After stamping the dress form image and greeting in Real Red ink on Whisper White cardstock, I added three Real Red buttons from the Playground Designer Buttons. I then used the white gel pen to add faux thread to the buttons.

I layered Bride Specialty paper onto Read Red cardstock and adhered a length of Real Red satin ribbon around the cardstock.

After attaching the piece with the stamped  images to the Bride Specialty paper piece with stampin’ dimensionals, I tied a bow of Real Red satin ribbon and attached it with mini glue dots.

Finally, I completed the card by adhering everything to a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Hope you enjoy today’s Simple Saturday card and find time to stamp and scrapbook this weekend.

Simple Saturday – Pedaling Past

This card may be just a step above my usual Simple Saturday card. I had finished the card with only the stamped bicycle and it looked good but adding the button wheels really made it better.

Pedaling Past is a new stamp set featured in the Summer Mini catalogue. It has this bicycle as well a a tricycle and a bicycle for two. It also has a neat scallop edge stamp and two greetings – thank you and enjoy the journey. Originally, I was going to to stamp thank you on this card because I wasn’t sure when I would use an "enjoy the journey" card.  Then the ideas started to flow – taking a trip, going on sabbatical, starting college, new job – there are lots of opportunities to use this greeting. So I did.

I stamped the bicycle and greeting on Whisper White cardstock with Night of Navy ink. I punched two 3/4" circles from the Travel Journal designer series paper and tied them under a clear button with linen thread. I adhered them over the wheels of the bicycle with mini glue dots.

The rest of the card was quick and easy to assemble. The cardstock layers are Night of Navy, Kraft, Pumpkin Pie and two patterns from the Travel Joutnal designer series paper. This paper has Night of Navy, Kraft, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green and Bashful Blue in it.  The colours and patterns are really unique, many travel themed and perfect for more masculine cards and Fathers Day.  The Travel Journal DSP package has 12 sheets of paper, 2 each of 6 designs for $13,25, item #117156.

Finally, I added a length of Pumpkin Pie striped grosgrain ribbon that I tied with a Night of Navy grosgrain knot.

I think this card counts for Simple Saturday since it was really fast to put together.

Simple Saturday – Great Friend

Stampin Up Great Friend

This Simple Saturday card took only a few minutes to make.

I layered the green patterned paper from the Cottage Wall designer series paper onto Rich Razzleberry cardstock using the ticket corner punch in the left two corners. I then added two Old Olive brads in those corners. Since I didn’t want the prongs to show inside the card, I cut them off and adhered the brads with mini glue dots.

Next, I scallop edge punched the Old Olive and Orchid Opulence layers and adhered them over the Cottage Wall dsp. After creating the tag with the Matchbox die and the Big Shot machine, I stamped the frame and greeting from the Great Friends stamp set in Rich Razzleberry ink. To finish the card, I added Rich Razzleberry ribbon to the tag and adhered it to the card with dimensionals.

Using this same template, it’s easy to create lots of simple cards.

Simple Saturday – Elements of Style Sneak Peek

Elements of Style

There usually isn’t so much bling on my Simple Saturday cards but this card came together so quickly I thought it qualified.

Elements of Style is a brand new set that will be in the Summer Mini effective May 1st. If you would like to receive a copy of Summer Mini catalogue in the mail, please click here. Canadians only, please.

To make this card, I stamped the scroll image in Basic Black ink and added the greeting in Bashful Blue. This set also has a bird, another greeting and a gorgeous grouping of flowers. I willl post another card soon using the other stamps but trust me, you will want this set!

After stamping, I layered the Whisper white cardstock onto Bashful Blue cardstock and then Basic Black. Then, I added the center from the largest sized Ice Circle brad onto the stamped image with a mini glue dot. To remove the rhinestone from the brad, open up the prongs and release the small tab. The rhinestone will slip right out.

The base of the card is Basic Black with a layer of Whisper White cardstock. A piece of 3" x 5" striped Bashful Blue designer series paper was added on top and a length of Basic Black satin ribbon was adhered along the edge of the dsp.  Three medium sized Ice Circle rhinestones were placed in the bottom right corner with mini glue dots. Finally, I used stampin’ dimensionals to apply the stamped image piece to the card. Hope you like it!

Simple Saturday – Bella’s Bloom

Stampin' Up! Bella's Bloom

Where does your stamping inspiration come from?

I was out shopping this week and saw a blouse in pale pink, black and white. It was so striking. I couldn’t wait to get home and recreate the look in a card.

I also used my new Bella’s Blooms stamp set – one I earned free during Sale-a-Bration. Do you have all the free stamps you want yet? Place your order today!

This card definitely qualifies for a fast and easy Simple Saturday card. It is one of those rare Saturday’s at our house when no one needs to be anywhere. No basketball games, no birthday parties, no nothing. Love it!  And one of my favourite things to do on a quiet Saturday is breakfast at McDonalds. So,when you can create a card with two "eager to go out the door" kids standing over your shoulder, you know that card was quick to make.

I stamped the flower from Bella’s Bloom in Pretty in Pink and stamped the greeting underneath it in Basic Black. Isn’t the flower image gorgeous? I layered the stamped images onto Pretty in Pink card stock and then Basic Black card stock.  Next, I layered the pink dotted design from the Shades of Spring DSP onto Whisper White card stock. I added a length of Pretty in Pink satin ribbon and three black brads from the Vintage Brads assortment as embellishments.  To finish, I layered the Whisper White piece onto a Basic Black card and added the stamped image. Easy peasy. And the basic layout of the card is so easy to re-create with other papers and images.

Hope your weekend stamping is simple and fun!

Simple Saturday – Taking a Turn

Stampin' Up! Canada

Most of the time my Simple Saturday cards are just that, a very simple card.

But today I want to share with you a simple way to change up a card. On Wednesday’s One Card, Two Ways blog post I showed you two ways to make a card using one layout. Today I took that a step further and simply turned the card so it is vertical rather than horizontal.

How’s that for simple?

Simple Saturday in the Holiday Lounge

  Four the Holidays

This Simple Saturday card uses only one stamp - a greeting from Four the Holidays. I stamped in the same colour as the cardstock, Taken with Teal for a tone one tone look.

Instead of a stamped image, I used two strips of the Holiday Lounge designer series paper. I love this paper!

The only embellishment is Kraft Taffeta ribbon and the bow that I tied and adhered on top with a mini glue dot.

Easy! And a great card for "assembly line stamping".

A Delightful Trio for Simple Saturday

Stampin' Up! Delightful Decorations

Today’s Simple Saturday features three cards all made using the Delightful Decorations stamp set.

These cards are for my class tonight at church. I have 99 people registered to attend and most have never stamped before. I planned these cards to be simple and easy to make.  I also wanted to show the variety of cards you can make using only one stamp set. So, of course, I used Delightful Decorations, the set I seem to reach for the most these days. Are you tired of seeing it yet?

If you want the full instruction sheets for these cards, please e-mail me!

Simple Saturday Tree Trimming

Stampin' Up! Tree Trimmings

A Simple Saturday Christmas Card.

This card features one of the ornaments from the Tree Trimmngs stamp set – $19.95, #116722, page 28.

Isn’t this card elegant? I stamped the ornament in Real Red ink and cut it out. The card is made with a Real Red cardstock base and Whisper White and Bride specialty papers. Wide Real Red grosgrain ribbon is adhered around the meeting point of the two white papers.

The ornament was applied with dimensionals over a length of gold cord. The "noel" greeting  is part of the stamp set, Many Merry Messages – $45.95, #116586, page 33.  A bow tied with the gold cord finishes the card.

If you want to make multiple Christmas cards of the same design this year, this card would be perfect.

Simple Saturday – Friends 24-7

Stampin Up Canada Friends 24-7

I love the versatility of this stamp set, Friends 24-7.

Today’s card is a great "Thinking of You" card but with a different greeting could easily be a masculine birthday card. And it was quick and easy making it a perfect Simple Saturday card.

Simple Saturday Make Merry!

Stampin Up Berry Christmas

This Simple Saturday card features the new Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series paper from the Holiday Mini.  The colours in this paper are Real Red and Soft Suede. Some of the papers are flocked and others have a metallic finish. They are really pretty!

To make this card, I layered Real Red onto Soft Suede and then used two of the patterns from Christmas Cocoa to make a third layer and wrapped Soft Suede grosgrain ribbon around the layer.

I stamped images from the Berry Christmas stamp set, $30.95, set of 8, page 20 of the Holiday Mini.  The images include a wreath, snowflake, bow, pointsettia and center in addition to the bird, branch and greeting I used here.

This would be an easy card to make "assembly line style" for your Christmas Cards. Please contact me for help designing your cards and ordering the supplies.
