Great for creating backgrounds, use the stencil with a sponge dauber to make an easy pattern. You can design a  tone on tone look like blue ink on blue card stock, pick contrasting colours like red ink on yellow card stock, pick several tones in the same colour family like I did below or create a rainbow of color. 

And if you want to take the background a step further you can create a really neat effect with the ghosting technique.

Simply place the stencil onto Crumb Cake card stock and with a sponge dauber apply Whisper White craft ink. It helps to use a bit of easy to remove tape to hold the stencil so it doesn’t slip. Once you have applied all the ink, remove the stencil and allow the ink to dry completely. You can use a heat tool to speed the drying time. Clean the stencil with a bit of water. 

Next, align the stencil back over the dots but this time shift it off slightly from the Whisper White ink so some of the Crumb Cake card stock is showing. Apply your choice of colored inks over the stencil using another sponge dauber. 

For this card, I used Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight inks.

To finish the card I added a greeting from the For Being You stamp set which was heat embossed with white powder on Vellum card stock. This is one of the four new free items you can pick from during Sale-a-bration 2015 which ends March 31st.

I wanted to try the ghosting technique with a stencil that has more open area so I made my own stencil with the Striped Scallop Thinlit and a Window Sheet. I added a shim underneath the platform on my Big Shot to ensure the window sheet cut out completely.

For this card I used Pink Pirouette, Strawberry Slush, Melon Mambo, Rose Red and Cherry Cobbler inks.

 I used small pieces of painter’s tape to keep the stencil from moving.
