My favourite Christmas tradition is going to Mass Christmas Eve with all of the family (My parents, sisters and their families). It’s the perfect way to start all the Christmas celebrations.

My favorite Christmas tradition is on the morning of Christmas eating a Christmas orange, watching the kids open presents and then having the best breakfast ever made by my parents.

    My favourite Christmas tradition is…
hmmmm…. there are several to choose from…
But I will go with My Mom’s sweetbuns!
I make them now for my family.
We eat them Christmas morning with eggnog and oranges.
They are iced with toasted pecans on top!
    Delish!
It just would not feel like the same Christmas without them!

My absolute favorite Christmas tradition is setting up my Santa collection the day after Thanksgiving. I have more than 100 that I’ve collected over the years and I really enjoy unwrapping each one and remembering where I got a particular Santa or who gave me the piece. Thanks for the opportunity to win and always sharing such great ideas!

My favourite christmas tradition is the gingerbread house that my brother and my daughter make every year. And every year I try to take some of the candy, but I always get caught!

HHHMMMM…… We’re always invited to the neighbors Christmas eve; I’ve made their 2 daughters quilts over the yr., & to hear & see them so excited over a homemade item thrills us! We always have seafood chowder, I make my mom’s dinner roll recipe, & hubby makes my shortbread cookies recipe. I love this whole 24th event, even if it’s much the same every year; we are truly blessed!

    My favourite Christmas tradition is…

going to Mass on Christmas Eve, coming home and opening gifts. Santa’s already been there (while we were at church), so we open all the gifts. Youngest to oldest, each person, one at a time, opens their gifts….so everyone sees what everyone else has received and shares in their excitement.

After that’s done and the mess cleaned up we enjoy a Christmas drink and a light lunch, a game or two of cards, then off to bed. The best thing is being able to sleep in Christmas morning…..not too late, though….that turkey has to get “in”!

My favourite Christmas tradition is … Christmas morning breakfast. As a little girl my Mom used to made a strudel cake (not pastry) with cherries. We would have this for Christmas morning breakfast along with Canadian Back Bacon, eggs, a fruit tree and all the rest of the trimmings. No presents were allowed to be opened until breakfast was done and cleaned up. Anticipation PLUS! for the little ones, but everyone would chip in and help clean up so that the presents could be opened. I still carry this tradition on today with my kids and now have my daughter making the strudel cake.

    Can’t wait for Christmas morning!

My favourite Christmas tradition is baking and decorating sugar cookies. Can’t wait to get to that.

My favorite christmas tradition is going to my grandfathers for dinner on christmas eve then going back to my parents with my husband and 2 kids and sleeping over so that we can all wake up together in the morning to open presents. The best part is my parents getting to see the looks on their grandchildrens eyes in the morning. I am so excited for that this year.

Our favourite tradition in our house is the Christmas baking. My husband is like a little kid hanging around the kitchen when my daughter and I start banging the teflon pans around! He is so funny. Don’t like the calories it adds to my holidays but what the heck…its why we only have Christmas once a year. Thanks for the chance to win some Canadian blog candy!

  16. Karenon 01 Dec 2010 at 4:48 pm

Great blog candy! Thanks for the chance to win.
My favourite Christmas tradition is Christmas Eve service at church, then home to sip hot chocolate in front of the Chirstmas tree.

I remember when I was a young teenager, my family would get together with very dear friends of ours on Christmas Eve. Their kids were young and went to bed early – that was our key to bring out the toys from the basement that “Santa” brought and we would put them all together (of course we had to do some quality checks to make sure everything worked properly … lol) and then we would have Christmas cake, then go home and open up one present (usually our new Christmas PJ’s!). I miss doing that and remember the warm memories year after year!

Since I lived in Japan, my family has done something very non traditional and we take out Japanese, Chinese, or Vietnamese food for Christmas Eve. We even dig out the chopsticks! We LOVE Christmas traditions and the kids have picked up on them- I heard the other day,
“mom, when are we going to make peppernuts?!”

    Merry Christmas!!

  21. Kathyon 01 Dec 2010 at 9:46 pm

Christmas Eve supper at my mother’s house is my very favorite Christmas tradition. This is the one time of the year that 98% of the family gets together. We eat, drink, laugh and be MERRY, Ho, Ho, Ho.
We have the traditional Ukrainian Christmas Eve supper, prepared by my mother at her house. I can hardly wait to eat, eat and eat.

  23. Pamelaon 02 Dec 2010 at 6:01 am

My favourite Christmas tradition is spending Christmas at home with just my husband and three kids. We usually open gifts, taking turns- one gift at a time, before having omelettes and cinnamon buns for breakfast. We then spend the day in our pjs, playing the new family game (there’s always at least one!) or old family favourites like Risk or Monopoly. I enjoy the slow paced day which is so different from every other day.

My favourite tradition is to really celebrate the spirit of Christmas and the birth of Jesus. We try to think of ways to keep the spirit alive all year. Not just for a day. We also sit remembering the people and pets that have left footprints or pawprints on our hearts. Then it is usually a long walk, followed by hot chocolate or cider. Some fun and games of course, too. To everyone – Merry Christmas.

  29. Elaineon 03 Dec 2010 at 5:49 am

My Favourite Christmas tradition is making all different kinds of cookies. Some that was only made at Christmas time but the one I miss the most is our traditonal Newfoundland mummering. Going door to door to visit family and friend dressed up in old clothes and our faces covered so no one would know who we were. Then we got asked inside for a dance and maybe a drink. It was something that was loved by all(young and old)…

My favorite Christmas is Having the whole family together on Christmas eve and having dinner together and later open all the presents, The little ones love that . And Grandma and grandpa and gr.Grandma and Gr/grandpa love this too .
Christmas day is celebrating with our church family in church with songs and thanksgiving in Worship and together gather in Bethlehem. Praise the Lord for Jesus .

  31. NancySon 03 Dec 2010 at 3:30 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition is gathering the whole family for Christmas eve dinner and then sharing stories and playing the $10 food gift game (everyone buys and wraps a $10 or less food gift, and then people pick…the picker can decide to take a open a new gift or swap that with something someone has already opened.)

We spend Christmas day with our immediate family and enjoy a quiet day around the fire, opening presents, exchanging stories, eating and just being in touch with each other.

My favorite Christmas tradition is making buckeye candies.

  33. Janeon 03 Dec 2010 at 11:52 pm

My favorite tradition is “Soup Night”, now on the last Saturday night before Christmas. The evening has evolved to even the newest cooks wanting to bring homemade soups…for 25 guests we have lots of appies, about 9 different soups, breads, desserts and of course WINE!! totally potluck, followed by a visit by Santa , a photo scavenger hunt for the kids and then a chinese tacky gift exchange…gag gift…Everyone has SO much food around Christmas , several of us decided this would be lighter fare – ha!

  34. susanon 04 Dec 2010 at 5:24 am

My favorite Christmas tradition is going to watch the children from a friends’ family perform Christmas songs at a local theatre.

  35. Alison Lon 04 Dec 2010 at 7:17 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition is getting together with my husband and my daughters and we watch all the Christmas movies. We will watch from the cartoons up to It’s a Wonderful life.

  36. Heatheron 04 Dec 2010 at 7:44 pm

My favorite tradition is putting up the Christmas tree as a family. When I was young, dad used to do the lights and all the ornaments on the top of the tree. Mom made many dated ornaments and he always seemed to have a story to go with each one. As we got older, he and mom would watch my brother and I put the tree up. He was also really picky about the tinsel, which we all complain about but do according to his picky wishes anyway (it wouldn’t be christmas otherwise).

  37. Pollyon 05 Dec 2010 at 7:44 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition really comes from my very good friend Allyson. On Christmas eve the whole family mom, dad ,three kids, the dog (Sadie) and I get invited. We all get to open 1 gift and then its pajama party & movie night! The gift is always a new set of PJs!

  38. Maureen Mon 05 Dec 2010 at 10:52 pm

My favorite Christmas tradition is Christmas Eve. My 3 children and their significant others meet at my daughter Lisa’s house and we all bring an appetizer, drink coffee with Baileys and open presents. We started this tradition when they were teenagers and wanted to sleep in on Christmas morning. Lisa now has a 2 year old and a 3 month old so I think this might be our last year for opening gifts on Christmas Eve.

Having my hubby put on Roger Whittaker’s Christmas album while I hang the German tinsel and star on the tree is my favourite tradition.
