A Night of Navy Flower Fest

Flower Fest in Night of Navy

Almost neon? When I showed this card to my husband that was his comment. I suddenly had a flashback to the many pieces of neon clothing I wore in the 70s. Scary!

The look I was going for with this card was fun and friendly. I used the new Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo and Wild Wasabi embossing powders from the Summer Mini Catalogue with Whisper White Craft ink.  I am finding that using the Whisper White Craft ink produces a slightly brighter image than using VersaMark ink for the embossing.

I heat embossed the Flower Fest stamp set images onto Night of Navy cardstock and then punched or cut them out to assemble the flowers. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals between the layers to make them stand out a bit more.

The card itself is layers of Whisper White and Night of Navy cardstocks with a Night of Navy patterned paper from the Regals Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack.

So, was I successful? Is this card fun and friendly? Please leave me a comment and let me know if you like the look of the bright embossing powders on dark colored cardstock. Thanks!

Fabulous Florets … again!

Fabulous Florets in Pacific Point

I was going to use a different set for today’s post, Really!

But what is there about the Fabulous Florets stamp set that keeps me reaching for it every time I stamp. Is it because of how easy it is to use, how it coordinates with the Beyond the Garden designer series paper or how great an investment it is. Maybe, it is because I never seem to get the stamp set put away before I use it again.

Whatever it is about the Fabulous Florets stamp set, I am loving the cards I can create with this set. It really is fabulous!

For this card, I simply stamped with Whisper White craft ink (VersaMark would work well, too) and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I layered the Pacific Point cardstock with the images onto a layer of Whisper White cardstock and then used dimensionals to add this piece to the card. The card was created of layers of Whisper White and Pacific Point cardstocks and the new Beyond the Garden designer series paper in a matching pattern. So easy!

Blossom Bouquet in Black and White

Blossoms Bouquet Triple Layer Punch Card

This card was made with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch which is currently my favourite new product in the 2011 Summer Mini catalogue from Stampin’ Up! Canada. I layered the two punched pieces with a dimensional between them to make this card. So easy and so pretty! Want to know some of my other favorites? Keep reading!

These are a few of my favourite things …

One of the many reason I love being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is that we can order products from the catalogues a month before they are available to customers. So, I have had time to stamp and create with the Summer Mini catalogue products already and want to share my must haves: (click on the image to see a larger picture)

Fun Flowers Bigz Die

Fun FLowers Bigz Die

Can you believe that there are only 3 more days to shop from the Occasions Mini Catalogue?  I made this card using some of my favourite products from the mini – the Fun Flowers Bigz die, the Framed Tulip embossing folder and the First Edition Specialty designer series paper.

Dress with FLowerThis card was inspired by a dress my niece was wearing on Easter. Sorry the picture is so blurry but I hope you can spot the pink flower on the black and white background.

As soon as I spotted the dress, I knew that I needed to make a card using the same theme.

I cut out multiple flowers in Rose Red and Regal Rose using the Fun Flowers Bigz die and scrunched them up before fastening the center with an Antique Brad.

I hope you like it!

Have you requested your free Gift Certificate yet?

Simple Saturday: Four Frames and Paisley Prints #4

Four Frames and Paisley Prints

For this Simple Saturday card, I wanted to share another sample made using the Four Frames stamp set and Paisley Petals designer series paper.

I think what I like most about this stamp set is the many different looks you can create. Every card I have shown this week has been unique yet they have all been created with the same basic products: the Four Frames stamp set, Paisley Petals designer series paper, the Say it Simply stamp set and the Decorative Label punch.

To make this card, I stamped the polka dot frame onto Marina Mist cardstock with Marina Mist ink. I punched an Old Olive oval for the center and then added a greeting of Marina Mist ink on River Rock cardstock. I cut the ends of the greeting piece into flag ends. Finally, I added a Marina Mist button tied with linen thread to this piece.

The card was created with layers of Marina Mist, River Rock and Old Olice cardstocks  with Paisley Petals paper. This pattern s a very subtle design in River Rock. Assemble the card by adding the frame and you’re done.

TIP:  To ink up the Four Frames stamps, place the stamps image side up on your table and apply the ink pad to the stamp.  This helps keep the middle of the stamps free of ink.

Organize Your Files Week

Did you know that this week is National Organize Your Files Week? Really!

Anyone who has seen my office knows that I am not the person to advise you on how to organize anything but I do know how you can celebrate this special week. With Stampin’ Up!  File Folders. See them on page 180 of the Idea Book & Catalogue or click here

The File Folders are one of the first products I order every year when the new catalogue comes out. If you have never seen this organizational tool in person, you probably don’t realize how great looking these folders are. They are a heavier weight with a slightly shiny finish on the outside. And the designs are fabulous.

So. even if my paperwork may never be completely organized it sure looks good!

Four Frames and Paisley Prints #3

Four Frames and Paisley Prints

This Four Frames card is a bit of a step up from the ones earlier this week. I wanted a richer, more elegant card and decided to dress the card up with vellum, satin ribbon and an antique brad.

I heat embossed the roses from the Elements of Style stamp set with white embossing powder onto vellum paper and then layered onto an Old Olive pattern from the Paisley Petals designer series paper and Whisper White and Old Olive cardstocks

I stamped the rose frame from the Four Frames stamp set (doesn’t this image match the larger one nicely?) onto Old Olive cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder. After punching the stamped image out with the Decorative Label punch, I added it to the card above pinched Old Olive satin ribbon and an antique brad.

I really like the way this card  turned out. It just might be the Mother’s Day card for my Mom.
