Melon Mambo

In Color 2009-2010 Week

This is In Color Week on my blog.

Every day from now until Saturday, I am going to post a sample highlighting one of the new in colors. And on Saturday, I will be giving away In Color Blog Candy. So check back everyday!

Today’s project uses the new Level 3 Hostess set – Kind and Caring Thoughts. This set is a must-have for every stamper with 9 greetings plus images. To earn your set, call me today to choose the date of your new catalogue workshop. Some July dates are still available.

This card is a perfect fit for the Small Open-End Envelopes, #107286, $8.95 for 20, page 157.

Cut your cardstock to 3″ x 9″ to form the base of the card. Then score at 3″ for the fold.

The layering pieces on the front are 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ for the Crushed Curry cardstock and 2-5/8″ x 2-5/8″ for the white.

The Crushed Curry inserts are 2-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ and the white is 2-5/8″ x 5-5/8″.

The circle punched image creates a great accent while still allowing the card to fit into the envelope and the Melon Mambo 1/2″ Polka Dot ribbon finishes the card.

So how does Melon Mambo compare to our current colours? Take a look!

Newsprint Reveal

Newsprint Reveal

Happiness is a Journey

This technique is from Technique Junkies and uses something we all have around the house – newspapers and magazines.

Ink the stamp with VersaMark ink. Stamp onto the newsprint or magazine page and cover with clear embossing powder. Shake off excess powder. Heat emboss the powder using care not to burn the paper.

Ink the brayer with a dark ink and brayer over the embossed image until the newsprint is covered.

Use a paper towel to remove the ink from the embossed image.

Seeing Black

Seeing Black

Another of my “oh no, please don’t go” favourites is the Taste of Textiles papers.

For this card, I used the metalllic bronze paper from this package. I was surpised to see a black core in this paper the first time I used it.  To show off the black, I sanded the Manhattan Flower  images after embossing with the die.  What fun!  When tearing this paper the black center is really highlighted.

I finished the card by adding some black embellishments and a touch of colour wth the Rose Red.
