I have loved this Happy Together stamp set since it was first introduced but I have never owned it. Until now!
As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I can also earn free Sale-A-Bration stamp sets and this is one I choose with my order. To me, this set just says fun.
I created a background using the Shaved Pastels technique described below and adhered the pastels piece onto Regal Rose and Rose Red cardstock once it was dry. The paper does wave a bit so a little extra adhesive may be required.
Next, I inked up my stamps using the Rose Red and Regal Rose markers and stamped onto Whisper White cardstock. I punched or cut out the images and layered them onto Rose Red cardstock.
To finish the card, I added a piece of Regal Rose cardstock that I had embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots textured embossing folder for the Big Shot and added two lengths of Rose Red grosgrain ribbon.
If you just can’t wait for the Shaved Pastels cardstock to dry on its own you can help it along with a heat gun or blow dryer. Hope you have as much fun making this happy card as I did.
This picture shows the Shaved Pastels in more detail. Can you see the swirls in the pattern?
Using a hobby blade or sharp knife, shave the pastel into the bowl of water. The pastel will float on top of the water. Gently swirl the water.
Dip cardstock into the water and remove quickly. Let cardstock dry. Try combining different colours of pastels. For more intense colour, you may dip the cardstock a second time into the same or a different colour.
The Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack is definitely my new favourite. I love the colours included in it: Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand, Old Olive, Taken with Teal, Pumpkin Pie , So Saffron, Pretty in Pink and Rose Red. Not colours I would have put together myself but they work so well.
And when you have so many colours and patterns to choose from, making cards get a little easier.
Today, I made two cards from one piece of patterned paper using the same basic layout and switching it up a bit. I choose a paper that featured a diagonal stripe in Pretty in Pink with a little bit of Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and So Saffron. I also knew I wanted to use my Sweet Pea Stitched Felt so I decided not to use So Saffron on these cards.
For the first card, I used Certainly Celery cardstock with Pretty in Pink satin ribbon and placed the paper at the bottom. For the second card, I used Pretty in Pink cardstock with Old Olive satin ribbon and placed the paper at the top. Both pieces of cardstock were embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder for the Big Shot.
The “Happy Birthday” greeting from Vintage Labels was stamped in either Certainly Celery or Old Olive ink and punched with the 1-1/4″ Circle. I layered the smaller circle onto a 1-3/8″ Circle and then a Scallop Circle of coordinating cardstock.
Last, I added the focal point on each card. The first card has a bird made using the Extra Large Two-Step Brid Punch. The second card uses the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt to make the main part of the card. These are both must have products to make creating cards almost effortless.
Below you can see close up photos of the cards that show more detail.
I hope I have inspired you to try making simply changes to the cards you design to create a whole new look. Happy stamping!
Can you see the shimmer on this card? I am working on wedding invitations for a client and wanted to play with a tone on tone look. This is not the actual thank you card for my client but it shows off the Frost White Shimmer Paint really well. I hope you can see how pretty the Shimmer Paint looks on the Whisper White cardstock. If you can’t see it, trust me, in person this card is so special.
I applied the paint to the stamp with a sponge making sure the coverage was not too heavy on the stamp. Then I stamped as normal. The shimmer paint cleans off the stamp easily if it is still wet. If you get distracted and can’t clean the stamp right away, the StazOn cleaner will take the Shimmer Paint right off.
To finish the card, I embellished it really simply with a couple of ribbons and two of the oval punches.
Although the Shimmer Paints were featured in the Holiday Mini, they are still available to order due to their popularity. Please see the chart below showing the item numbers for the Shimmer Paints and other products that can be ordered now although they do not apear in a current catalogue.
I really like making Slider Cards. Partly, because they are easy to make but mostly because everyone loves receiving them. They just can’t stop pulling the ribbon and moving the slider back and forth.
Like alot of movements cards, a Slider Card may look intimidating but it really is not difficult. And to make if even easier, I have recorded a video tutorial for you. Scroll down this post for the link,
I can’t stop creating with the Vintage Vogue stamp set and what better colour than Bermuda Bay to make it stand out. Even with the boldness of the Bermuda Bay, this card still has a vintage feel to it.
I only clean my desk off when I simply cannot work there anymore. Because there is not one square inch of space left to create.
But there are certain advantages to working this way. Often when I return to my desk I am inspired by some of the products that are still out. And that is what happened with this card.
Since my Encore refill inks and sponge daubers were calling to me, I decided to create another card with the refills. This one uses a technique for layering metallic ink over classic ink. Really simple.
I inked up my Upsy Daisy floral stamp – don’t you love it this set?! – with Night of Navy classic ink and then applied Silver Encore refill over the classic with a sponge dauber. After huffing to remoisten, I stamped onto Whisper White cardstock. I used my heat tool to dry the Silver Encore ink but you could also emboss with clear embossing powder.
The greeting is also from the Upsy Daisy stamp set and fits perfectly into the large oval punch. I love how Stampin’ Up! makes sure so many of the their products coordinate. I layered the greeting that was stamped with Night of Navy ink on Whisper White cardstock onto a Brushed Silver scallop oval punch and finished with with stampin’ dimensionals.
I embellished the card with three silver brads in the bottom right corner. I get so many compliments on my cards when I layer the narrow grosgrain ribbon, here I used Night of Navy, over the Whisper White Organza ribbon that I do it a lot.
I also tried the Silver Encore refill ink over Melon Mambo and Pixie Pink and they looked really pretty as well.
Try this technique yourself and let me know what you think.
