The Bella Toile background stamp is one of my favourites. It makes every card look good!
Here, I stamped the large image onto Glossy White cardstock with a VersaMark pad and then heat embossed white embossing powder on top. Next, I used an aqua painter to apply the inks. I picked up ink from the lids of my stamp pads and then watercoloured the cardstock with the aqua painter. The colours I used are Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue and Night of Navy.
Once dry, I punched the glossy white cardstock with a 1-3/8″ circle punch. After gluing down the Whisper White strip of cardstock with the greeting from Thank You Kindly and the other two cardstock strips, I added the circles adhering with one or two layers of stampin’ dimensionals.
This is a great way to take a floral image and make a more masculine card. Enjoy!

On this date in 1828, the first Websters Dictionary was published. Contrary to what my kids think, I was not there for the first edition. But, I have owned a lot of dictionaries in the past and in fact, I have a Webster’s dictionary on my desk right now.
A lot of words have come and gone from the dictionary over the years. For example, a word included in that first edition was “gutturniform”. Now, when is the last time you said someone was “shaped like a water pitcher”. And I’m sure Mr. Webster couldn’t even fathom a Webinar, a word that was added this year.
I think rubber stamping is sort of like that. I always want to try the newest techniques and own the most recent products but I also keep returning to the old. My card today is very mch like one I did for a downline meeting in 2002. The cards had to be a “wow” because Shelli Gardner, the CEO of Stampin’ Up! asked to attend my meeting. What an honour! As a fairly new Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I went to the tried and true to create my cards. And that meant Poppin’ Pastels. It was many years before I did a workshop that didn’t include this technique.
For this card, I used the two step stampin’ stamp set. A Rose is a Rose. First, I stamped the bolder rose with VersaMark ink and used a sponge dauber to add the my lightest colour pastel, Blush Blossom. Next, I used a stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the second rose on top with VersaMark ink. This time I used a sponge dauber to apply my Rose Red pastel. I repeated the technique for the leaves using Certainly Celery and Old Olive.
After trimming the Top Note, I added it to a card of Rose Red cardstock with a Regal Rose layer and a strip of Thoroughly Modern designer series paper. Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon was added as well. Finally, I adhered three small half back pearls to the flat crystal beads from the Pretties Kit.
Thanks for listening to my walk down memory lane. Please post a comment and share one of your stamping memories with me.

Today’s Technique is Faux Mother of Pearl. This is a simple way to create beautiful, soft backgrounds.
To make this card, I stamped the flower from Bloomin’ Beautiful and coloured it in with markers. I used a Regal Rose marker to colour the inside of the flower first following the marks on the stamp. Next, I coloured the flower with a Pretty in Pink marker. I then did the leaves on the stamp with Old Olive and Certainly Celery.
I embellished the card with Pretty in Pink satin ribbon and a Pretty in Pink corduroy button with a Basic Black cardstock stitch.
Below is a close up of the Faux Mother of Pearl. Can you see how pretty the background is?

For this technique, you will need Frost White Shimmer Paint, Glossy White cardstock and plastic wrap.

Add a small amount of the Frost White Shimmer Paint to the scrunched up plastic wrap. Dab the plastic wrap all over your glossy cardstock ensuring you leave some parts of the cardstock blank. Let dry completely.

Sponge or brayer a light colored Classic ink over your cardstock. allow ink to dry for a moment. Wipe your cardstock with a paper towel.

There usually isn’t so much bling on my Simple Saturday cards but this card came together so quickly I thought it qualified.
Elements of Style is a brand new set that will be in the Summer Mini effective May 1st. If you would like to receive a copy of Summer Mini catalogue in the mail, please click here. Canadians only, please.
To make this card, I stamped the scroll image in Basic Black ink and added the greeting in Bashful Blue. This set also has a bird, another greeting and a gorgeous grouping of flowers. I willl post another card soon using the other stamps but trust me, you will want this set!
After stamping, I layered the Whisper white cardstock onto Bashful Blue cardstock and then Basic Black. Then, I added the center from the largest sized Ice Circle brad onto the stamped image with a mini glue dot. To remove the rhinestone from the brad, open up the prongs and release the small tab. The rhinestone will slip right out.
The base of the card is Basic Black with a layer of Whisper White cardstock. A piece of 3″ x 5″ striped Bashful Blue designer series paper was added on top and a length of Basic Black satin ribbon was adhered along the edge of the dsp. Three medium sized Ice Circle rhinestones were placed in the bottom right corner with mini glue dots. Finally, I used stampin’ dimensionals to apply the stamped image piece to the card. Hope you like it!

Trendy Trees is such a great set. First of all, I love sets that include greetings and this set has two – thinking of you and thanks so much. This set of 8 also has 4 tree tops and two tree trunks so you can create lots of different looking cards. And, did I mention the matching wheel, Funky Forest. Whether you use the wheel for scrapbooking, making matching envelopes or creating a background, a matching set and wheel always make for a good investment.
This card uses only two colours of cardstock and three colours of ink. You don’t need a lot of supplies to get started rubber stamping.
To make this card, stamp the trees onto Whisper White cardstock with Bashful Blue and Night of Navy ink for the tree tops and Certainly Celery ink for the trunks using a stamp-a-ma-jig. Punch with 1-1/4” square punch and layer onto 1-3/8” punched squares of Certainly Celery cardstock. Layer striped 1-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ Certainly Celery designer series paper onto Whisper White cardstock and add the punched squares with stampin’ dimensionals. Stamp greeting onto larger piece of Certainly Celery dsp with Night of Navy ink and layer onto Whisper White cardstock. Add ribbon and assemble card to finish. Easy peasy!
