A customer asked me recently which designer series to order first. My answer – definitely one of the Patterns Designer Series Paper Stacks. Buy a paper stack in your favourite colour collection and then add desginer buttons or brads in the same colour collection for even more creative options.
I love the versatility of the paper stacks and how they enhance my cards. With four different patterns of paper in each colour, there are so many designs for you to choose. Click here to see another card I made using the Brights Patterns DSP Stack.
For this card I used the Basic Black paper with Basic Black and Whisper White cardstocks. The image and greeting are from the Just Believe stamp set. This has to be the new stamp set I have used most often.
I kept the embellishments simple – a black button and black ribbon.

The Wiper Card. This has to be one of the easiest Fancy Fold cards to make. Two score lines on two same sized pieces of cardstock and the little wiper piece at the top and you are good to go.

For this card, I used more new products from the Holiday Mini catalogue. This time the Holiday celebrated is Thanksgiving with a fall colour pallette. The Autumn Spice Specialty designer series paper has Cajun Craze, Old Olive, More Mustard and Early Espresso. Isn’t this paper great?
The stamp set is Day of Gratitude – a set of 7. I think the images in this set are beautiful and can be used well after Fall.
For this card, I stamped the large circular image and the greeting onto So Saffron cardstock with Early Espresso ink. I mounted the greeting onto a larger piece of Cajun Craze cardstock and the other image onto layers of Early Espresso and Cajun Craze. I inserted an Early Espresso brad into the center of the image.
I love the coordinating embellishments on this card. Early Espresso ribbon, brad and button. Don’t you love SU! products and the way they match?
The wait is over! My Holiday Mini catalogiue pre-order has arrived. It was so exciting to open the box and see all the new Halloween, Fall and Christmas products.
One of the first products that caught my eye was the Candy Cane Specialty designer series paper that I used on this card. Can you see the red glitter stripes and polka dots?Wow!
Since I couldn’t decide which paper in this package to use first, I decided to make a pyramid card so I could use multiple patterns. Click here to see another example of a pyramid card.
After layering the various papers, I stamped a snowman and greeting from A Cute Christmas in Real Red ink and coloured the snowman in with markers. Scroll down for a tip to make your stamping easier. The only other embellishment on this card is a Real Red Big Designer Button with Blushing Bride “paper thread”.
One of my favourite things about this new Holiday Mini catalogue is the fact that Stampin’ Up! has highlighted two different themes. The first is Deck the Halls which features Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke and Crumb Cake. The second theme is Candy Cane which I used on my card. The featured colours for this theme are Real Red, Garden Green, Baja Breeze and Blushing Bride.
Deck the Halls is a little more elegant and Candy Cane is a little more fun and whimsical.
Both themes have designer series paper, fabric, buttons, ribbons and stamps to match. This years Christmas card will be a snap!

This card was made using the Silver Fox Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink in place of “normal” ink.
I used the Smooch Accent Ink two ways on this card. First, I used it direct to paper on the circles. The Smooch Accent Ink has an applicator that lets you paint the ink where you want it. Second, I applied the Smooch Accent Ink directly to the stamp and then huffed to remoisten before stamping on paper.
This ink was easy to use and dried quickly. It did dry a little more matte than I expected but it does match the Brushed Silver cardstock I used here nicely.
Like nail polish, which this bottle reminds me of, if ink gets into the neck of the bottle it may become hard to open. Like nail polish, you can let the bottle sit in a cup of hot water for a few minutes to help open it.
I can’t wait to experiment more with the others colours as well as other techniques. Stay tuned!
I made this card for a Dreaming About Rubber Stamps Team swap. Join my team and you can participate in swaps, earn money with your stamping, get to know other stampers online and in person and lots more.

Have A Seat was one of the first stamp sets I ordered from the new catalogue. I like the simplicity of the chairs and their rustic feel. To me, these images just cry out to be stamped in brown so I used Early Espresso for the ink and one of the cardstocks. The other papers I used are Very Vanilla cardstock and Elegant Soiree Designer Series Paper.
I used two layers of Early Espresso cardstock underneath the stamped image distressing both layers first. I used the Cutter Kit on the edges and then wet both pieces with water. I crinkled them up and then spread the paper out to dry. If you can’t wait, you can use the heat tool to rush the process a bit.
To embellish the card, I used Early Espresso 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon and a Neutrals Designer Button in Crumb Cake. A Tiny Tag stamped and punched greeting was added as well.
My Holiday class schedule will be released on August 16th at 1pm. These classes arevery popular and fill up fast so make sure you sign up quickly so you don’t miss out.
