I am having so much fun creating with my new products from the Occasions Mini catalogue. And this card uses two or my favourites – the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt and the Sending Love Specialty Paper. Gorgeous!
I was shown how to make this great punched and crimped flower by Jan McClurg at the Phoenix Regionals on Saturday. Was it only a few days ago that I was in warm and sunny Phoenix? One of the great perks of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is the wonderful training we receive and the great places I can visit.
This card has no stamping – can you believe it? I love the flower created by using the new Scallop Trim Border punch. Want one of your own? It is free with a $65 order. And make sure your order includes the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt package – 52 pieces for $11.95 or only 23 cents a piece. Love it!
I created the base of the card by layering Old Olive cardstock onto a card of Whisper White. The next layer of Pretty in Pink cardstock was embossed wit the Big Shot and the new Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impression Folder, a Stampin’ Up! exclusive. At the bottom I attached a piece of designer series paper from the Sending Love Specialty pack. Can you see the glitter? This paper is awesome! The last piece of the card was created by punching a length of Whisper white cardstock with the Scallop Trim Border punch and gluing a length of the new Old Olive satin ribbon on top.
Want to know how to make the flower?

Cut a piece of cardstock 1” x 12”. Punch the length of the cardstock with the Scallop Trim Border punch. Run the cardstock through the crimper several times (I did it at least 5 times) until it bends easily. Punch a 1-3/8” circle of cardstock and cover with adhesive. Wrap the eyelet border piece around the outside of the circle pinching to gather the flower.

Once the first row is completed, start the second row of the flower.

Tuck the end of the flower length under and adhere to finish. Embellish as desired.

I had a fabulous Christmas with lots of time spent with friends and family. We had family here visiting the week before Christmas and we had the chance to catch up with lots of friends and family the week after Christmas. Throw in a bad cold in early January and a trip to Phoenix for Stampin’ Up’s Leadership event and what I expected to be a few days away from my blog turned into a few weeks.
But what a great time to be back – Sale-A-Bration and the release of the new Occasions Mini catalogue. I love them both!
This card features one of the many sets you can earn free during Sale-A-Bration by placing an order of $65 pre-tax and shipping. This set is called Vintage Labels – a set of 6 available in either wood mount or clear – and works so well with many of our Stampin’ Up! punches.
I created a background using the Herringbone technique and the new Welcome Neighbor DSP Pad, another of your free choices during Sale-A-Bration. A simple embellishment of ribbon and brads and this card is ready to be mailed.

Isn’t this a geat way to use up your scraps? Here I used the Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper but cardstock would work as well. This technique is called Herringbone from the Technique Junkies newsletter. I love the colours in the paper – Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence and Old Olive.
Although this technique can be a little time consuming, the finished card is worth it. And the background created needs just a small image or greeting to finish the card. I stamped an image from the Matchbox Messages stamp set with Rich Razzleberry ink and layered the “just a little thanks” onto punched pieces of cardstock.

It’s okay. You can do it. You can colour outside the lines. In fact, for this card you’ll want to!
Here, I stamped a flower from the Embrace Life stamp set on watercolor paper with Black StazOn ink and let it dry for a moment. Next, I picked up colour from the Rose Red Watercolor Wonder Crayon with an aqua painter. After colouring around the edge of the flower, I used the Regal Rose crayon with an aqua painter to blend the colour a bit. Finally, with a Rose Red marker, I coloured the center of the flower.
All that was left was to embellish. Two different patterns from the Thoroughly Modern designer series paper were used to highlight the cardstock. To finish, I added white ribbon and brads. Hope you like it!

The Gifts of Christmas stamp set is quickly become a new favourite. Besides the fact that it includes images and greetings, I appreciate how easy it is to use. The images are sized to create fast and easy cards. Like this one!
This card is a Flat Front Tri-Shutter and I can’t stop making them! Once you have made one and see how simple it is with the instructions below, I know you will be hooked.

Score a piece of 5-1/2” x 12” cardstock on long edge at 4″, 8″ and 10″.
Measure 1-1/4″ from both the top and bottom of the card, cutting from the 4″ score mark to the 10″ score mark.

Score top and bottom panels only at 6″.

This fun card reminds me of the print screened t-shirts that I am seeing in all the stores. The shirts have white on the fabric where it was folded under during the printing process and so the ink did not colour that part of the fabric. Inspiration can be found in so many places.
For this technique, stick pointy strips of low-tack or painters tape onto glossy white card stock. Allow a bit of tape to hang over the edge of the cardstock for easy removal. Sponge or brayer colored ink onto the card stock over the tape. Be careful that the ends do not lift. Leaving tape in place, stamp images over the colored background. Once dry, remove the pieces of tape. This technique is featured in the current Technque Junkies newsletter.
If you want to learn more techniques and templates, join me at my Technique Tuesday classes. At each class, we will make 3 cards and/or projects and full written instructions are provided. Click on the events button to the right to see my calendar.
