As I sat down at my stamping table to create, I saw the dryer sheets that I had put aside recently. I have been meaning to re-visit the Dryer Sheet Technique and realized the Nature’s Perfection stamp set would work well. I first shared the Dryer Sheet Technique on my blog in August 2010 and it remains a popular post. Perfect for a technique on Throwback Thursday. View the original dryer sheet technique post and video.

I decided on blues and chose Night of Navy, Island Indigo and Bermuda Bay. I stamped my images in Night of Navy and Bermuda Bay onto a piece of Whisper White card stock 2-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and then colored them in lightly with an Aqua Painter and Island Indigo and Bermuda Bay refills.

After the inks dried, I applied glue from a Stampin’ Glue Stick over the entire piece of card stock right to the edges. I really like these glue sticks. If yours get dry, watch this video about how to rehydrate glue sticks and don’t forget to subscribe to me on YouTube. Place a laundered dryer sheet on top and smooth it out. You want the dryer sheet to be slightly larger than the card stock. I like to tuck the edges of the dryer sheet underneath and glue down but cutting the dryer sheet to the edge of the card stock also works.

Before adhering to the card, I like to sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds glitter over the dryer sheet. No need to add extra adhesive as the glitter will adhere to the glue underneath. This step is optional but it dresses up the card a bit.

The “just because” greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts stamp set. I assembled the various layers of card stock including a Scallop Edge Border Punch punched piece to finish the card.

Simple Saturday Mother’s Love Card

Simple Saturday Mother’s Love Card

Mother's Love Circle Card

There seems to be a trend right now towards using circles on cards. Usually stamping trends come from fashion and home decor but I haven’t seen a lot of circles on fabrics and accent pieces. But I’ve seen a lot of circles on cards recently and here is one more.

Today’s card was very simple to make with the Mother’s Love stamp set. Stamped with black ink onto white card stock this Circles Collection Framelits Die card took only a few minutes to complete. I embellished the greeting with a Vintage Faceted Button with a Basic Black Candy Dot center.  Enjoy!

Painted Petals Double Tag Card

Painted Petals Double Tag Card

Painted Petals Tag Card

I was cleaning my stamp room recently – it feels like I clean it constantly – and came across a package of the In Colors 2014 – 2016 card stock and couldn’t believe how well these new colors went with the Painted Blooms designer series paper.

The card stocks used for this card are Hello Honey with layers of Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon.  I decided to make a tag card since I wanted to use the tulips stamp from the Painted Petals stamp set and didn’t want this smaller image to get lost on the card.

After coloring onto the stamp itself with markers in Hello Honey, Melon Mambo, Lost Lagoon and Wild Wasabi, I stamped onto the Whisper White card stock which had been punched with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch. I added the greeting in Blackberry Bliss ink layered onto the same color of card stock. The ribbon is Lost Lagoon Satin Stitched Ribbon tied with Linen Thread.

I added a second slightly longer tag in Lost Lagoon behind the main tag before completing the card.  That’s it, quick and easy.

An Old Favorite and New Soon to be Faves

An Old Favorite and New Soon to be Faves

Butterfly Basics and Work of Art Collage Card

I was asked recently what my top pick is from the Occasions 2015 catalogue.

Without hesitation, it would have to be the Butterfly Basics Bundle including the Butterfly Basics stamp set and Butterflies  Thinlits Dies. Available in wood, clear and photopolymer, the versatility of these products can’t be beat.

Whether you want to create a clean and simple collage card like the one above or go all out with a one of a kind master piece you need this bundle. I have created looks from vintage to modern and everything in between. You’ll want this stamp set in your collection.

I wanted to make a quick birthday card with bright colors so I reached for Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango. The choice of the Butterfly Basics stamp set was easy and I knew that I wanted the main butterfly to be black. All that was left for me to do was create a background.

I could have used water and an aqua painter to make the background but being in a bit of a rush I didn’t have time to wait for the watercoloring to dry. The Work of Art stamp set came to the rescue by creating a similar background that was fast and easy. I added smaller butterflies from the same stamp set in the same colours to add more elements to the background.

A black greeting also from the Butterfly Basics stamp set and I was done. I usually add ribbon or buttons to my cards but this one didn’t need it.

Are you convinced yet? I know that you are going to reach for the Butterfly Basics stamp set a lot so purchase it in wood or clear and you can add a Sale-a-bration free item to your order. I think all four of the new, just added free choices below are going to be new faves but if I had to pick just one to work with the Butterfly Basics Bundle I would add the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack to my order.  Place your order today.

Your Stamp, Your Way

Your Stamp, Your Way

Baby Bumblebee Card

I am a big fan of stamp sets that have a greeting or two included because I think they have more versatility.

I am also a big fan of the single stamps from Stampin’ Up! because they are a great value.

I am not such a big fan of single stamps with the greeting included because it can be hard to omit the greeting when stamping. But the good news is that there is an easy fix – your stamp, your way.  I often remove the greeting from the stamp so each can be used independently as I did on this card.

To make this card, I stamped the Baby Bumblebee image onto Whisper White card stock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then colored the stamped image with Daffodil Delight and Skin Tone Blendabilities. I cut out the image with the Circles Collection framelits using the 2-3/8″ circle. I punched a 2-1/2″ circle from Basic Black card stock and layered it behind.

The Honeycomb embossing folder was used on Daffodil Delight card stock to make the front of the card and a strip of black polka dots from the Neutrals Backgrounds designer series paper stack was added. I love this paper stack and use it often.

Lastly, I stamped the now separate greeting onto a strip of Whisper White card stock and adhered it underneath the patterned paper. A pearl colored with a black permanent marker finishes the card.

Baby Bumblebee Stamp with greeting on the side

To customize your stamp, carefully cut the greeting from the rubber stamp with scissors. Adhere the greeting to one side of the wood block as shown. Then cut the greeting from the image label and adhere to the opposite side of the wood block.

No Stamping Required!

No Stamping Required!

Circles Collections Framelit with crease pad

I didn’t even realize until this card was finished that no ink was used and that means – no stamping required!

To make this card, I placed the Circles Collection Framelits onto the Coastal Cabana card stock and ran it through the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine as usual except that I used the Crease Accessory Pad on top of the sandwich in place of the standard acrylic cutting pad.

Rather than cutting out the circles like the standard cutting pad would the crease pad embossed the design into the card stock. Each circle created two lines.

The “hello” greeting was cut out with the Hello You Thinlits, once in Vellum and once in Whisper White card stock. I offset the two hellos slightly before adhering together and then adhering to the card. I find the Multipurpose Liquid Glue works well with the words from this set of thinlits.

To finish the card, I added clusters of Pearl Basic Jewels to the card.
