When I am stamping, I always picture how the card is going to look before I gather my supplies. And some cards transfer exactly from my mind to my paper. This was not one of those cards.
I found myself adding layers and taking away layers, adding ribbons and taking away ribbons, moving the greeting, changing the accessories, etc. You get it, right? The good news is that despite the many efforts, when all is said and done, I like this card. I think the Cotton Ribbon saved it.Did you know that you can stamp directly onto the Cotton Ribbon as well?
I wanted to use a 3″ by 4″ piece of the Orchard Harvest designer series paper because this size gives me the most bang for the buck. I always try to cut my designer series papers to a size that allows for the most use of the paper. But the jar just looked lost on the paper. By moving the paper up just a bit and leaving some Crumb Cake showing at the bottom and adding a small piece of Lucky Limeade at the top of the paper I achieved the balanced look I wanted.
After cutting out the Perfectly Preserved stamped jar, lid, pear, stem and greeting with the Cannery Set Framelits, finishing the card was easy. A Naturals Designer Button in the darker colour to match the Early Espresso and I was done.

This card features the last of the five new 2012-2014 In Colors, Midnight Muse. I love this new color and it’s my favorite! Although it’s blue, it’s not just any blue. It’s not Night of Navy, it’s not Not Quite Navy instead Midnight Muse is a great neutral color I keep reaching for over and over. It works great with pinks and reds and yellows and greens – a must-have for your color collection.
I used the Labels Collection Framelits (125598) to make this card. As you can see from the instructions below, the card itself is a cut out framelit and then I added additional layers of different sized framelits to create the front of the card.
I stamped images from Summer Silhouettes (wood 126445, clear 126447) in Crumb Cake, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals and Summer Starfruit inks. I chose a polka-dot pattern paper from the 2012-2014 In Color designer series paper pack (126910) to make the largest frame. If you scroll down you can see my first attempt with this card when I used the Patio Party paper (126916).
I created a frame of Midnight Muse designer series paper and added pearls in the corners. A smaller frame of Whisper White card stock makes up the center of the card stamped in various images from Summer Silhouettes. The smallest frame at the bottom contains a greeting from Perfectly Penned (wood 122890, clear 122892).

To make the card, I folded a piece of card stock in half and placed the folded edge at the top of the card.
TIP: Use a sticky note to hold your frame in place on the cardstock. The ones I prefer are made by Avery and are sticky on the entire back surface. They can be reused several times.
I left a small gap at top so I didn’t cut the fold.
I then cut a straight line at the bottom of the back of the card so it would stand up and not wobble.
Card #1 – This was the first card I made. I thought the Patio Party designer series paper had too much pattern so I switched to the polka dot paper. It did motivate me to add the punched butterfly so that was good.

This card features Primrose Petals, another of the new In Colors for 2012-2014. I once again paired this card with Gumball Green. Although Gumball Green is the new In Color that I’ve used the most on my blog projects, is it my favorite new In Color? Come back tomorrow when I’ll announce my favorite new In Color and you’ll have a chance to win blog candy.
In making this card, I got to play with some of the new catalog accessories. In addition to the 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon that I’ve used before, I also used the new Apothecary Accents Framelits (127003) as well as the Stampin’ Pierce Mat (126199) and Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack (126187). This package of three templates is only $10.95 and coordinates with some of the Stampin’ Up! Punches and Framelits. For paper piercing precision, you can’t go wrong by ordering these new tools today!
To make this card, I inked up the flower from Blooming with Kindness (wood 126420, clear 126422) with Primrose Petals ink taking care not to get ink on the stem. I then used the Gumball Green marker (126856) to add the ink to the stem before stamping onto Whisper White card stock. I also added a Gumball Green “thank you” greeting also from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set keeping in mind that I had to be close to the stamped image in order to cut it out. When you are a new stamper, purchasing stamp sets that have both images and greetings is a great investment and this stamp set is definitely a new favorite of mine.
I burnished the stamped flower with Primrose Petals ink to highlight it a little bit more. To burnish, use a sponge dauber and instead of tapping up and down, keep contact with the card stock and move the dauber in circles adding more ink as needed. After cutting out the stamped images with the largest frame from the Apothecary Accents Framelits, I used the paper piercing tools to create the dotted frame around the image.

For this card, I used the Faux Tile Technique to showcase the Sunflower stamp and another new In Color, Summer Starfruit.
Faux Tile is such a simple technique – score your cardstock into squares with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122334) or use a ruler and stylus to make similar score lines. The squares on this card are each 1″. Then stamp directly onto the scored cardstock. I inked up the Sunflower background stamp (wood 123606, clear 123608) with Summer Starfruit ink and then used a sponge dauber to add Chocolate Chip re-inker to the center of the Sunflower before stamping. Since I didn’t want to contaminate my ink pad with another color, I placed a few drops of re-inker onto a plastic plate and picked the ink up with a dauber. In addition to not mixing up my inks, I also got a more consistent color and better coverage.
I added a layer of Chocolate chip card stock to the stamped image and attached a length and knot of Summer Starfruit 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon (126846) before adhering to the Summer Starfruit card.
To complete the card, I added a greeting from the Blessing From Heaven stamp set (wood 123050, clear 123052) – stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and punched with the Extra-Large Oval (119859).

As soon as I saw the Quint-Essential Flower stamp on page 110 of the catalog, I knew I had to have it. The catalog shows how to layer the punched images but I knew I had to try it myself. And I love it! (Click on the highlighted item numbers behind the product descriptions to see the items in the online catalog.)
I stamped the Quint-Essential Flower (126790) once in Raspberry Ripple, once in Basic Black and once in Gumball Green. I punched a 3/4″ circle (119873) from the Raspberry Ripple image and then punched out the same image with the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle punch (118874). Next, I punched a 1/2″ Circle (119869) and a 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle (119854) from the Basic Black. Finally I punched the Gumball Green with the 1″ Circle (119868).
I glued the smallest two circles together and then used a Dimensional (104430) to attach them to the Gumball Green circle that I glued to the Basic Black Scallop Circle. I then used Dimensionals again between the largest two layers.
The card itself is Raspberry Ripple card stock with a 1/2″ smaller piece of Basic Black card stock 5″ x 3-3/4″) and a 1/4″ smaller piece of Whisper White card stock (4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″) layered together. The Basic Black polka dot patterned paper is from the Neutrals Color Collection Paper Stacks (117157).
I adhered a length of Whisper White 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon (126877) around the patterned paper piece and added a bow with a glue dot. The greeting is from the new Lovely Little Labels stamp set (wood 126260, clear 126262) and punched with one of three new punches in the Little Labels Punch Pack (126881). These matching little stamps and punches are so cute!
