Christmas Magic Snowman

I had some fun today stamping with the Christmas Magic stamp set. Now, I know that this stamp set just cries out to be watercolored and believe me, I will do that, but for now I just wanted to create a quick card.

The card was kept simple with the use of only two colours of ink – Marina Mist and Night of Navy. And only Night of Navy card stock in addition to Whisper White.

I masked the snowman – keep reading for the step by step instructions – so it would appear grounded but over stamped the trees in both colours.

A couple of greetings and some Metallic Enamel Shapes finish the card.

 Masking 101

Masking 101: Stamp the image that will be in the foreground once on your card stock and a second time onto a post-it note or copy paper. Make sure if you are using a post-it that the stickiness is under the stamped image.

Masking 101 Part 2

Step 2: Place the post it note over the stamped image covering it completely.

Masking 101 Part 3

Step 3: Stamped the second image on top of the post-it.

Masking 101 Part 4

Step 4: Remove the post-it from the card stock. You can re-use the mask so stick it into the stamp case for storage.

Christmas Magic by Stampin' Up!

Masking brings the snowman to the front and keeps the image clean and sharp. It’s a great technique to use whenever you want to create depth on your cards and your focal image crisp.
