The last few days I have been showcasing some of the new stamp sets and products from the upcoming Holiday Catalogue for 2015-2016 by Stampin’ Up! Canada. Don’t forget to request your free copy today.
But if you want to start your Christmas Cards now, there are holiday themed stamp sets on pages 67-72 of the current catalogue as well. Stamps set like Lots of Joy which I used for one of my cards today. This stamp set has 10 images including four greetings, to/from, an ornament, tree, postage stamp and more. A fun plaid design is featured throughout the set.
For both of these cards, I used the same layout just changing the stamp set and embellishments on each. Each card uses the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch with a frame of paper-pierced dots made with the Updated Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack, Stampin’ Pierce Mat and Paper-Piercing Tool as a starting point.
Even though the same layout was used for both cards, you can see that it is possible to get two entirely different looks by changing up the colours, theme and accessories.

For this Christmas Card, I used the Lots of Joy stamp set with the Merry Moments designer series paper. The colours are Real Red and Crumb Cake with Whisper White.
The Tree Punch was punched twice, once in the designer series paper and once in Crumb Cake. By placing the Crumb Cake tree behind the patterned paper tree it really makes the trees stand out. The greeting was stamped in Real Red but I cheated and used a Cherry Cobbler button from the Regals Designer Buttons pack. That’ll be our secret, okay? Topping the button is a small bow of linen thread to cover the button holes and finish the card.
For this Happy Birthday Card, I choose the greeting from the Butterfly Basics stamp set with the English Garden designer series paper. The colours are Mint Macaron, Lost Lagoon and Blushing Bride.
The butterfly was cut out with the Bold Butterfly Framelits for the Big Shot and the Blushing Bride card stock. The greeting was stamped in Lost Lagoon ink and punched out with the Triple Banner Punch.
I had decided to add a few – may 3 or 5 – Pearl Basic Jewels around the circle to highlight the outside frame. But it didn’t look quite right so I kept on going until the circle was almost complete. I wouldn’t recommend this for every card but I think it works here. Do you think it’s too much?
Love both cards. The butterfly one with the pearls is so adorable!
