Swallowtail Emboss Resist

When I called this post Swallowtail Resist, I did not mean that you should resist owning this stamp. I love this large butterfly and any stamp that covers an entire card with this much style is definitely one you should own.

Rather I meant that the technique I used on the card was Emboss Resist, an oldie but one that still makes beautiful cards.  I stamped the Swallowtail stamp onto a background paper from the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper and then heat embossed with the Pool Party embossing powder. Next, I sponged over the embossed image with a sponge dauber and Sahara Sand ink. Once this ink is dry – it only takes a moment – gently use a paper towel to remove any excess ink from the butterfly. The embossed image resists the ink and retains its original colour and that‘s where this technique gets its name.

I added three tulle flowers from the 5/8″ Flower Trim on the side of the card as an embellishment. The Flower Trim has about 100 flowers on each roll so when you only use a few on each card this product will go long way.

The card was finished with a “just for you” greeting stamped in Sahara Sand ink and punched out with the Extra-Large Oval punch.

I think I can now officially declare Pool Party to be my third favorite Stampin’ Up! Colour. In first place, my favourite is Rose Red and in second place, Not Quite Navy. What is your favourite Stampin’ Up! colour?

Photopolymer Stamps

Photopolymer Flyer Introducing Photopolymer Stamps … We’ve searched long and hard for just the right material to be able to introduce completely clear stamping. And we’ve found it. Our top-quality photopolymer has just enough give to create a perfectly stamped image every time and with the introduction of our firm-foam pads, let’s just say they’re meant for each other!

What makes them so great?

 • They’re entirely transparent for perfect placement every time!
 • They are durable. The photopolymer material is designed to last.
 • Can you say sticky? (Don’t worry; in a good way.) These stamps stick amazingly well to our clear blocks.
 • They’re age tested. They won’t yellow or cloud up over time.

They are clearly a great choice – Designer Typeset #132956, $16.95 for 57 pieces. Click on the flyer for more details.
