Poppy Parade Daisy

Stampin up Poppy Parade

Poppy Parade is another one of this years new In Colors. Don’t you love it?

Although I would consider Poppy Parade a red it has a definite hint of orange to it as well. Since it is such a vibrant colour, I knew it would pair well with the Newsprint designer series paper that will be in the next catalogue. These papers are really neat – dictionary pages, old catalogues, vintage maps, music and more. And do you wanna know a secret? The new catalogue has coordinating sets and accessories for this vintage looking paper. The Newsprint designer series paper is Basic Black and Very Vanilla so I choose to use only those colours with Poppy Parade for this card.

To make this card, I Iayered a 3-1/2 x 4-3/4" piece of Newsprint paper onto 3-5/8" x 4-7/8" Basic Black cardstock. I wrapped this piece with Basic Black satin ribbon and Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon tying a small knot in the grosgrain.

I made the daisy with the Daisies #2 die for the Big Shot in layers of Basic Black, Poppy Parade and Newsprint paper. To hold the flower together, I added a 5/8" Vanilla jumbo brad to the center.

After adding a greeting in Basic Black ink on Newsprint paper and punching with the Modern Label punch,  I layered onto a larger piece of Poppy Parade cardstock and added a 5/16" vanilla jumbo brad.

Finally, I layered Poppy Parade cardstock onto a Basic Black card and assembled the pieces. A really easy card!

This card has more of a shabby chic look to it than most of my cards. Do you like it? Please leave a comment and let me know.

A New In Color … Pear Pizzazz

Stampin Up Pear Pizzazz

Pear Pizzazz in one of five new In Colors that Stampin’ Up! is introducing in the upcoming catalogue. These new In Colors will be available for two years.

Pear Pizzazz products include a Classic ink pad and refill as well as cardstock and a stitched-poly ribbon. It is also used in a couple of the new designer series papers like Greenhousa Gala that I used for this card.

To make this card I cut three 1-1/2" x  3-3/4" strips of the Pear Pizzazz patterned paper from Greenhouse Gala. I layered the strips onto Whisper White cardstock and then onto another piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock.

A length of Whisper White Organza ribbon was adhered around the cardstock and a 1/4" wide piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock was glued on top. Three white 5/16" jumbo brads were inserted in the bottom left corner and the cardstock layers were glued onto a Whisper White card

Finally I stamped one of the flower images from the Friends Never Fade stamp set in Pear Pizzazz and punched it out with the 1-3/8" circle punch. I layered the stamped piece onto a 1-3/4" circle of Pear Pizzazz and a 2-3/8" punched scallop circle of Whisper White.

See a colour comparison of Pear Pizzazz with some of other Stampin’ Up! greens and don’t forget to order your new catalog below if you haven’t already!

It’s Back … Pacific Point

Stampin' Up! Inspired by Nature

Pacific Point is a "new again" colour. It was an In Color a couple of years ago and is now returning as a permanent addition to the Brights Collection.  Scroll to the end of this post to see a colour comparison to some of the other Stampin’ Up! blues.

As you can see from this card, Pacific Point is a strong and vibrant blue. Here I matched it up with black and white. I stamped the flowers from Inspired by Nature twice. First on the Pacific Point cardstock and a second time on the Whisper White cardstock. After layering the Whisper White cardstock onto Basic Black, I lined up the two stamped images and adhered.

To highlight the stamped image a little more, I added three black brads from the Vintage Brads assortment (on the Last Chance Accessories List – get ‘em while you can!) and 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Basic Black.  I am really starting to love this narrow ribbon. To finish the card, I added one of the greetings from Inspired By Nature with stampin’ dimensionals and added a full card of Basic Black cardstock.

Last night I spent some time arranging my ink pads into the new Colour Collections. And they look great! Pacific Point fits so well into the new Brights Collection.

Introducing … Cherry Cobbler

Stampin up Friends Never Fade

There are some exciting new colours being introduced in the next catalogue and one of them is Cherry Cobbler.  This is a rich, vibrant red that is more elegant than our other reds. It is new to the Regals Collection for Stampin’ Up!  To see a comparison of similar colours, keep reading. And keep checking my blog as I introduce the other new colours in the coming days and weeks.

To create this card, I used the new Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder for the Big Shot with Whisper White cardstock. I then layered the Whisper White cardstock onto Cherry Cobbler cardstock and then onto Whisper White again to make the card.

Since I didn’t have Cherry Cobbler ribbon, I made my own with the Whisper White satin ribbon. Scroll down to the end of this blog post to see how I coloured my ribbon.

Next, I stamped an image from the new Friends Never Fade stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink and layered it onto Cherry Cobbler cardstock, Lastly, I stamped a greeting in the same colour and punched it with the 1-1/4" circle which was then layered onto a 1-3/8" circle of Cherry Cobbler cardstock and adhered with stampin’ dimensionals to the card.

A simple card but the elegance of Cherry Cobbler makes it special.

How to Color Ribbon

TIP: Hold your ribbon onto the ink pad with a sponge and pull across the pad to colour the ribbon. Let dry. I went across the pad only once and let the colour soak in. Two passes across the ink pad was too dark.

Sneak Peek – Artistic Etchings

Stampin Up Artistic Etchings

This new set, Artistic Etchings, will be in the new Idea Book & Catalogue available in just two weeks. A set of 6, it also includes a crown, key, and Eiffel tower in addition to the images shown here.

I also used two new colours on this card – Early Espresso and Marina Mist. Don’t you love them?

And a sneak peek isn’t complete without showing a couple of new accessories as well. Here I used the new 1/8" taffeta ribbon in Marina Mist (note the white trimmed edges) and the new 2-3/8" scallop circle punch. I am so happy to have a larger punch that matches the 1-3/4" circle.

This new set is so romantic – I can just imagine myself having coffee at a wonderful bistro in Paris.

Nature’s Nest

Stampin Up Natures Nest Stamp Set

With Father’s Day just around the corner, my stamping thoughts turned to a masculine card. One of my favourite stamp sets to use for "guy cards" is this one, Nature’s Nest. See another card I made with this same stamp set here

The colours I choose for this card are Soft Suede, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla. I added a designer series paper from Travel Journal to add an additional Sahara Sand pattern.

The hardware is Antique Brass for both the Jumbo Eyelets and the Vintage Brads. The only other embellishment is the Soft Suede ribbon.

A quick and easy birthday or Father’s Day card for the men in your life.

A Rich Razzleberry Simple Saturday

Thankful Thinking with Rich Razzleberry dsp

This Simple Saturday card takes advantage of the Big Shot for easy card making. The only stamping on this card is "thanks" from the Thankful Thinking stamp set in Rich Razzleberry ink.

I created a card of Rich Razzleberry and added a top layer of Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder. Next, I created a piece of layered paper with a finished size of 3-1/4" x 4". I layered Rich Razzlberry and Whisper White cardstock and a top piece of polka dot Rich Razzleberry Patterns designer series paper. To this I added a length of Rich Razzleberry polka dot grosgrain ribbon, dotted side down.

Although Rich Razzleberry has been added as a permanent colour to the Brights Colour Collection in the new catalogue, the Polka Dot grosgrain ribbon and Patterns designer series papers will not carry over. Own these great products today!
