Hippest Hippos and Hippos Dies – It’s a Freebie1

To start the celebration, I made this hippo card recently for a first birthday. This water loving hippo is all geared up and ready for his dive.
I stamped the hippo with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto Thick Basic White cardstock and then coloured him in with the Gray Granite Blends. I cut him out with the matching die and used other dies from the set to cut out his hat and snorkeling equipment as well. As cute as the Hippest Hippo set is, It’s the little accessories that really make this set a lot of fun.
I am really pleased with how the galvanized tub turned out. I cut the tub out of Crumb Cake cardstock and then used the VersaMark ink pad to tap ink directly onto the die cut piece. One the tub was covered in ink, I added silver powder from the Metallics Embossing Power pack on top and used my Heat Tool to melt the powder. The texture helps give the rub a realistic look. By the way, did you see that the Embossing Additions Tool Kit is now available?
The background is made from the 2022-2024 In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Assortment in Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide and Sweet Sorbet, the same colours I used throughout this card. My last step was to add a few Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels. These gems go with everything.
The circle and square were made with the Stylish Shapes Dies. If you don’t already have these dies, get them now. I use them all the time and highly recommend this set. If you don’t have a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, the mini machine is available as an Easy Entry Bundle with this set of dies. Eclectic Garden
Eclectic Garden makes it easy to add a pop of colour. With “Two-Step Stampin’”, you can layer two or more images to create one final image in the colours you want. Plus there is a special texture to the images adding depth and dimension.
The nature-inspired images in the Eclectic Garden Stamp Set include a bird, berries, turnips, and a flower. Stamp the outline, add the colours and then chooose one of the comforting greetings and in no time your project is complete.

I stamped the bird in black with StazOn ink and then added Bermuda Bay and Pear Pizzazz ink using two-step stamping. This is the simplest way to add colour as the stamps are designed and sized to fill in the outline.
The Basic White cardstock measures 3″ wide by 3-1/4″ high and is layered onto a piece of Basic Black that is 3-1/4″ x 3-1/2″. The greeting was stamped directly onto the card base .
This card is similar to the first except the I added a band across the card under the image for the greeting. Since the Rich Razzleberry card stock is darker, the greeting would not show up as well on just the card base.
The berries were stamped with black Staz On ink onto Basic White card stock measuring 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ square and then over stamped in Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizzazz. This piece was then layered onto Basic Black card stock 3″ x 3″ square. The greeting was stamped on Basic White card 1-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and then layered onto Basic Black card stock 1-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Both pieces were then added to the card base with a few Matte Black Dots to embellish the card just a little.

The focus of this card is the layered paper. I limited the stamping to the greeting and an peach accent. For ink, I used only Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz. The two created a really vibrant combination.

You’re A Peach Bundle
I adhered all the die cut pieces – the peach, leaves and banner greeting – with dimensionals. All of these dies are included in the bundle and the banner frame fits multiple greetings. Pairing the smaller font greeting with the larger greeting in different colours really makes the message stand out.
You’re A Peach Envelope Flap
To cover the flap of the envelope, cut a piece of designer series paper to 2-1/4″ x 6″. Adhere the paper to the envelope flap and then trim off the excess paper with scissors. I opted to use the same Pear Pizzazz brushstroke design from the card.
