This trio of cards were all stamped with the Sheltering Tree stamp set from Stampin’ Up!
For each card, I kept the same card layout but used different inks and embellishment to change up the look.
In addition to the tree, the Sheltering Tree photopolymer set also has leaves, accessories and four greetings so a wide combination of looks and layouts can be made with just this one set. A great purchase for you and your budget.
This first card is the most dramatic of the three Sheltering Tree cards I made today. After stamping in black, I used sponge daubers to add color on top of the stamped image. I had planned to use the same colors as layering pieces but the Basic Black looked so much better.
The sponged inks are Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon and Blackberry Bliss.
Once I choose the Sheltering Tree “you warm my heart” greeting for this card, I knew I needed to add some hearts. The Hearts Border punch and Silver Glimmer paper worked perfectly. I added three hearts to the ribbon to continue the theme.
The colors on this card are Basic Gray, Smoky Slate and Real Red.
This card highlights the Sheltering Tree stamp set at its most basic. Most of the color and design come from the stamps and ink. The only embellishments are the ribbon and buttons from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack. With a $60 order during Sale-a-bration, you can choose this pack as your free item.
Taking the colors from the accessories, this card was made in Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry and Early Espresso.

Although it was great to have a few days off to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s with my family, it feels good to get back to work. And that means stamping.
So many of you have asked about my favourites from the new Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogues so I though I would share here. My top pick (for now!) is the Butterfly Basics stamp set and Butterflies Thinlits Dies Bundle. I love how many looks you can create with this bundle. For versatility and value, this bundle can’t be beat.
I decided to re-visit a couple of popular background techniques with these cards – Ombre and Painter’s Tape.
Above is the finished card for the Ombre techniques. See the step by step below.
Apply pieces of painter’s tape across the card. The pieces should be close but not overlapping.
With a sponge dauber, burnish on the darkest color.
With a tissue, remove the ink from the glossy pattern that comes embossed on the Irresistibly Yours designer series paper.
Pull off the first piece of painter’s tape and repeat.
Complete the card piece by piece. As a last step, go over the edges of the card and any lighter areas with the dauber.
This variation uses the Painter’s Tape technique to create another Ombre background.
Place the painter’s tape, sticky side down, on your ink pad the long way.
Continue with each colour one by one. I found it help to rub my finger on top of the tape to make sure I had good coverage before removing.
Quick Tip: If you want the small pieces of paper in the die to pop right out, place wax paper between your die and paper and a dryer sheet underneath the paper on top of the plate. You won’t believe the difference it makes.

Last sneak peek before the new Occasions 2015 catalogue is released tomorrow.
This card was stamped with the Printed Petals stamp set. Remember it from this card?
Really simple to make, I decided to do the stems in black instead of the usual green for a different look. And to add a bit of bling, I sprayed Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz on top of the stamped images.
Add a greeting with a notched 1″ square punch corner and that’s it. Done.

Sale-a-Bration 2015 starts Tuesday, January 6th and so does the all new Occasions Catalogue. I can’t wait!
What is Sale-a-bration? For every $60 you spend in products, you get to choose a free item from the Sale-a-bration brochure. The brochure will be online to view on Tuesday and there are lots of items to choose from including stamps, paper, accessories and blendabilities.
This card was made with a new stamp set from the Occasions catalogue called Crazy About You, a set of 33 stamps including lots of greetings.
I stamped the scallop image in Sahara Sand and punched it out with the 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle punch. The background paper is from the Something Borrowed designer series paper.
I think I am most excited about the new accessories on this card. Can you spot them?
The silver flowers are from the Something Borrowed Embellishments and the ribbon is Sahara Sand 7/8″ Lace Trim. Both are so pretty in person.

This is a quick sneak peek of a new stamp set, Painted Petals. This set is included in the Occasions 2015 catalogue from Stampin’ Up! Canada that will be released January 6th.
I paired the set with Rose Red, Pink Pirouette and Old Olive. After all these years, Rose Red is still one of my top 3 picks for favourite color.
