I was working on my Father’s Day cards this week and thought it would be fun to use the Be the Star stamp set with the matching Stars Framelits Dies and Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack. And I did have fun.
First, I made a simple card using the Stars framelits as a cut out and then I took it up a step to make a folded card. If you would like to see a video for these cards, please leave a comment or e-mail me and let me know.
A French Fry Box made with the Fry Box Bigz Die completes the set.

The Fry Box Bigz die is really easy to use and makes a fast, fabulous holder for candy, gift cards and more.

This is a simple card that can also be used as a place card on the table.

This “Be the Star” folded card is my fave.

Here the card is laying flat so you can see the folds.

I really, really like the In Colors this year – Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow and Tangelo Twist. But my favorite right now (and it is subject to change daily) is Lost Lagoon.
This very simple monochromatic card was made with Lost Lagoon ink and paper as well as a printed paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. These 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ pieces are perfect for so many cards and projects. Here I used 1/3″ wide strips of the paper for the background.
The stamps are from the Bloom with Hope Hostess set on page 240 of the catalogue. To be honest, hostess sets are not usually the first sets I add to my wish list but this set is the exception. The images and greetings are both beautiful and I was so glad to see it had a sympathy greeting in addition to happy birthday. I know I will use this set a lot. It is available with orders of $200 or more. Place your own order or have a catalogue book party with your friends.
The final touch on this card was a bow of the Lost Lagoon 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon. This ribbon is so elegant. My card looked a little empty but the ribbon was the perfect touch.
If you want to order any new 2014-2016 In Color products, I recommend the 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock and ink pad bundle. This gets you started with all of the new colors. If you want, add refills and an accessory like ribbon or the clothespins.

Since the last card I shared was decidedly feminine, I thought that today’s card should be a masculine one.
The Hello. Sailor stamp set is a fabulous choice for making cards for the men in your life. It is a set of 7 with a great mix of images and greetings.
For this card, I used the 1-1/4″ Pacific Point Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and the High Tide Designer Series Paper package which are both designed to coordinate with the stamp set.
The Scalloped Tag Topper Punch made the accent piece on the front with the “True North” greeting and ribbon stapled to the top. I used the blade of my scissors to “rough up” some of the edges of the card for more texture before assembling the finished card.
I really like how I could mix the the patterned paper with the stamped anchor to make the background for this card.

With Easter over, my thoughts are turning towards creating cards for Mother’s Day. Although I ended up making this a thank you card (because I needed a thank you card first), I think this would be a an easy and simple card for my mom with a quick change of greeting.
I love monochromatic cards and the Bermuda Bay color on this card did not let me down. I used 1/8″ taffeta ribbon in the same color for more embellishment in the corner.
After stamping the flowers from So Very Grateful onto the card stock and heat embossing with white powder, I adhered a second layer on top. The top layer was embossed with the Arrow embossing folder and punched with the 2-1/2″ circle punch so the image could show through.
A really simple card idea that is sure to impress – try it today!

I wanted an image for this card that would fill up most of the space so I thought of Swallowtail. I love this big, beautiful butterfly because it adds an elegant simplicity to any card.
For this card, I stamped the butterfly in VersaMark ink and heat embossed the image with gold embossing powder. I decided to pair the gold with Midnight Muse. I absolutely love this rich dark blue. As it is one of the 2012-2014 In Colors, it will be retiring soon. Make sure you have added the ink to your collection along with the ink refill and extra card stock.

I also embossed the Vintage Faceted Designer Button. I pressed the button into my Versamark inkpad and then dipped it into the gold embossing powder. Next, holding the button with the Paper-Piercing Tool, I used the heat tool to melt the powder. This will still hot for a bit after you finish so be careful not to touch it.
Don’t have a Paper-Piercing Tool? Get one! I use mine so often. But for this project you could also use a toothpick, paperclip or something similar.
To finished the card I layered the stamped image onto Brushed Gold card stock and added gold Baker’s Twine to the center of the button to carry over the gold theme. I also added more Midnight Muse in the form of the stamped greeting and the fishtail banner.
