Fun with the Monstermaniacs

Let them eat cake! November is all about birthdays in my family – my two kids, my two nieces, my nephew, my sister and my sister-in-law all from the 10th to the 27th.

What to know how to shake up the staff at your local bakery? Order a cake with seven names written on it!

This year is it was the new Monstermaniacs stamp set to the rescue. This is a really fun stamp set and great for every age. My cards and tags were so simple – just stamp with Black StazOn and color with markers. You could leave the images uncolored and include a small package of crayons for the birthday child to color themselves.

Looking for Christmas Cards to make with your kids? The monster on the top right passes for a tree! Leave off the greeting and have the kids make their own cards, ornaments and gift tags.

How cute are these monsters?

My nieces wanted $$$ for their birthdays as they are saving for iPods so I added a tag to the Muslin bags and voila!- a money bag.

These muslin bags are great for gift cards as well so have some on hand for last minute Christmas gifts.

My nephew asked for Batman Lego for his birthday so this Monstermaniacs card went with his gift.

As my nieces are twins, we often do pink and purple as their individual colors. We all know which twin is pink and which is purple.

One of my nephews was born in July so he gets a small gift – this year is was a Mega Blok Skylander figure – when all of his siblings receive theirs. This little card was perfect and the greeting said just what I wanted it to say.

Festive Flurry Glimmer Cut-out

Every time I look at Festive Flurry Bundle I see silver and blue. And this card will not be the exception.

I made the card from an 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Whisper White card stock and layer a piece of 4″ x 5-1/4″ Island Indigo card stock on top. The next layer is Silver Glimmer paper cut to 3-3/4″ x 5″. The top piece of Whisper White card stock measures 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″, The snowflake is cut first with the Festive Flurry Framelit as pictured below and then embossed with the .

The smallest snowflake was stamped in Island Indigo ink and the middle snowflake is stamped in Pool Party. Dimensionals were used to hold the layers of snowflakes together and Sticky Strip was used to adhere the glimmer paper.

The center of the snowflake is a Large Rhinestone (you really need to order these with Festive Flurry for the centers). The greeting is from More Merry Message (Wood 126400, Clear 126402) stamped onto a 1/2″ wide piece of Whisper White cardstock at least 4-1/2″ long – I just used a scrap. The end is cut into a fishtail and the piece can be trimmed to fit the card.

Making A List and Checking It Twice

The Santa’s List stamp set was not one I had planned to order. I am a fan of the traditional Santa image in this set and the greetings are fun but I really didn’t plan to order this stamp set for Christmas. And then I saw this card made my one of my downline, Pam McLean. And suddenly I had to have this set and it quickly became a favorite.

Santa’s List Stamp Set, Set of 3

Clear 131811 $15.95

Wood 131808 $19.95

Colour Santa in red for a classic look or stamp black on white for a modern twist

Finished card size is 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″

To make this card:

Fold an 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Early Espresso card stock in half to make the card base.
Emboss a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Naturals Ivory card stock with the Pretty Print Embossing Folder and sponge the edges with Early Espresso ink.
Stamp Santa image onto Watercolor Paper with Black StazOn ink and colour lightly with Cherry Cobbler and Pink Pirouette markers. You can also add Smoky Slate for the eyebrows. Set aside to dry.
Cut out a strip of Early Espresso card stock with the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL die for the Big Shot and layer and adhere Cherry Cobbler 1″ Stitched Edge Grosgrain Ribbon and 5/8″ Crochet Trim on top.
Cut a 1/2″ wide piece of Naturals Ivory card stock for the greeting. Stamp greeting in Early Espresso ink and cut a fishtail end. Sponge Early Epsresso ink onto the greeting piece and then add a double bow of Linen Thread to the end with a mini glue dot.
Cut out Santa and layering Early Espresso card stock with the Circles Collection Framelits and glue together with a dimensional between layers.
Add Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to Santa’s fur trim with the 2-Way Glue Pen.
Assemble card as shown.
Add the “Hope You’re Nice” greeting to the inside of the card by stamping with Early Espresso ink onto a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Naturals Ivory card stock.

Festive Flurry Foil

I wish you could see this card up close. It is so pretty! Now, this is not a card I would make in big multiples but for those special people who appreciate them, this card is perfect. Mine is destined for Mom and Dad’s house.

The elegance of the foil is what takes this card up a notch. The silver foil sheet embossed with Coastal Cabana mosiacs is from the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper and the specialty in the name is this paper!

My color combination for this card is Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Whisper White with the Silver Foil. I also stamped in the same colors – Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Silver Encore inks. And as there is no greeting on the front of this card, it can be used after Christmas for birthdays, thank yous and more.

I embellished with Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon and a Frosted Finishes Embellishment in the center of the card.

The finished size of this card is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. I layered a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″ onto the front of the card and then adhere another 4″ wide piece of embossed silver foil paper on top cut at an angle. The Coastal Cabana square is cut to 3″ x 3″ and the silver foil square is 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″.

Mixed Bunch Canvas Creations Card

Took a break from Christmas cards today to make a Thank You with the Mixed Bunch stamp set (wood 128442, Clear 125537).

I stamped with Black StazOn onto a piece of Canvas Creations to make the background piece. I really like how the canvas sheet changes up the look of card by adding a fabric-y finish.

The card is Daffodil Delight and Basic Black including the Daffodil Delight 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon that I added behind the greeting banner. I added a length of Sticky Strip to the top and bottom of the back of the banner and then pinched the ribbon as I adhered it.

The large flower was punched with the Blossom Punch, and the centers are layered circles.

The “Thank You” greeting is from the must-have greeting set Four You (Wood 130535, Clear 130538). I use this set all the time since it has a phrase for almost every occasion.
