Christmas Ornament Punch Card in Gold

 

Christmas is the one time of year when most of us make multiples of the same card for giving. So the cards need to be easy to make and still have a little something special about them. And the Gold Foil Sheets definitely bring on the something special.

 

I love these 12″x12″ sheets with their high shine. They take every project up to the next level. For this card, I punched an ornament with the Christmas Ornament Punch and then embossed with the Petals-A-Plenty Embossing Folder for the Big Shot.

The layers are Crumb Cake card stock, Cherry Cobbler card stock, Gold Foil Sheet and Season of Style Designer Series Paper. The only other embellishment I added was Cherry Cobbler 1″ Stitched Edge Grosgrain Ribbon. If you are mailing these cards instead of hand delivering them, the Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon is another good choice.

 

The “Christmas Blessings” greeting is from More Merry Message (Wood 126400, Clear 126402) one of my all time favorite Christmas greeting sets. To see this set and more sets that have carried over but are not in any current catalogue, please see the flyer below.

The more I create with the Christmas Star stamp, the more I love it. I think it is the size of the stamped star that makes it a new favorite. It is bigger than I thought it would be and fills up the card front so well. Just add a greeting and I am done.

 

For this card, I stamped the Christmas Star onto Whisper White cardstock and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. Next, I cut out the star and scored it on each of the five lines. I folded it so that the lines were higher and then adhered it to the card with glue dots. I added just a little bit of cotton padding behind the star so it keeps its height.

The card itself is Whisper White cardstock with Champagne Glimmer Paper and the greeting is from Greetings of the Season (Wood 128030, Clear 128033). Such a simple card. 

 

Yesterday at my Christmas Card class we discussed how the simple cards are often the most popular – both for the stamper and the recipient. I think this card definitely qualifies on both accounts.

Modern Medley Cards

 

This card uses the same basic layout and colors for two different cards. Both cards were made with Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler and the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper. This paper is a must have!

The only embellishment is Pearl Basic Jewels colored with a black permanent marker like a Sharpie. Remember, these pearls are on sale as part of the weekly deal that ends today. Scroll down for the link.

The “With Sympathy” greeting is from the Loving Thoughts stamp set (Wood 128436, Clear 125845) and “Hello” is from Lacy & Lovely (Wood 132025, Clear 122887)

 

 

One of my best stamping tips for you is to turn your card if it’s just not working for you. I don’t know exactly why but if I have a card that just doesn’t look “right”, I turn some of the pieces or elements of the card or even rotate the entire card.

This allows me to see the card differently and it often fixes the card. Give it a try next time you are stamping and let me know if it works for you.

Regarding Dahlias Card

 

Regarding Dahlias (Wood $24.95 130324, Clear $17.95 130327) is definitely one of my favorite stamp sets and this card sketch is quickly becoming a new favorite as well.

I have made several cards this week, including some for the  Rubber Stampers Club, that use this same layout and I don’t think you can go wrong. For this card, I layered Baker Brown Sugar onto a Strawberry Slush card and added a stamped Whisper White piece. The images where stamped in Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush.

The band is Coastal Cabana cardstock with a “thank you” greeting stamped in Baked Brown Sugar ink. One of the reason I like this stamp set is for the four greetings that it includes. In addition to the “thank you” there is also “you’re invited” and a second set of larger greeting that say ” hi” and “hello, you”.

 

What I really like about this card sketch is the layered pieces along the left hand side. You could dress is up with embellishments such as buttons, rhinestones or pearls. You can also add fishtails made of designer series paper. And the amount of the card showing underneath can be increased to create a whole new look.
