Simple Christmas Cards

Simple Christmas Cards

Clean and Simple Christmas Cards

The kids are back in school, the leaves are starting to turn yellow, the nights are a little cooler, it’s time to start thinking Christmas Cards. No really!

I have been contacted by several customers in the last few days asking for simple Christmas Card ideas so I sat down and quickly made these two cards. If you need 5, 50 or 500 cards this year, these two samples will work for you.

Joyful Christmas Stamp Set

I really like the elegance of metallic inks on my Christmas cards so I created this card in gold. I stamped with the Joyful Christmas stamp set (Clear #131805 $20.95, Wood #131802 $27.95) in Encore Gold ink.

I love how easy it is to get a rich, brilliant color with this ink, no embossing powder required. Since these inks take a little longer to dry, I recommend doing all of the stamping first and then you can embellish and assemble the cards later.

And the only embellishing I did was add ink from a Bermuda Bay Marker to the center of the poinsettia. The stamped images are layered onto Bermuda Bay card stock, Brushed Gold card stock and Whisper White card stock. The other image from Joyful Christmas is stamped inside the card.

Festive Flurry Stamp Set and Framelit

This card features the Festive Flurry stamp set (Clear #131781 $36.95, Wood #131778 $48.95) and matching Festive Flurry framelits available separately or as a Bundle & Save (Clear #133285 $57.95, Wood #133284 $67.95).

For this card I wanted to focus on silver with the Silver Encore ink and Brushed Silver card stock. I paired the silver with Strawberry Slush ink and Strawberry Slush card stock. The greeting is from the More Merry Messages (Clear #126402 $30.95, Wood #126400 $40.95) which although is not in the catalog is still available and is a my favorite Holiday greetings set.

I layered dimensionals between the snowflakes and added a Large Rhinestone to the center of the smaller snowflake.

This card is a little more involved than the first card but still a great clean and simple card option that has been stepped up just a bit.

Perfect Blend

Perfect Blend

Perfect Blend Stamp set

Today is an important day in my world – one that is marked on my calendar but I never forget. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte launch day. For me, it has to be a Venti, Triple, 3 pump, non fat, no whip latte. Yummy!

While I drink my coffee black and strong, I have a lot of demands when it comes to my lattes. My kids always tell me that more than 3 customizations is just embarrassing and they prefer not to stand too close when I order.

As soon as I saw the Perfect Blend (Clear #131392 $13.95, Wood #130745, $16.95) stamp set in the catalogue I knew it was for me. Any stamp set that says “Given enough coffee, I could rule the world” is good by me. And I can customize all I want!

To make this card, I decided to use Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Island Indigo and Very Vanilla. I created the background with the Stripes Embossing Folder and added a piece of Soho Subway designer series paper with a fishtail end. I cut out the stamped coffee cup and layered it onto Deco Labels Collection shapes in Crumb Cake and Island Indigo.

I raised the lid with dimensionals and added the greeting in the middle of the cup by stamping a second time onto Island Indigo card stock with my Early Espresso ink. To embellish, I added a Naturals Designer button and Early Espresso Baker’s Twine.

Now you may not have this stamp set on your wish list or even drink coffee and that’s okay. This is a great card layout to copy for all kinds of stamp sets. The shape can be changed to circles, squares or anything else and the size changed up easily as well. And the card can also be turned for another completely different look. This is a great starting point for creating clean and simple cards.  Happy stamping!

Halloween Bash – Celebrate A Creepy Crawly

Halloween Bash – Celebrate A Creepy Crawly

Halloween Bash

I recently heard my brother tell his kids that “Auntie Dar doesn’t do nature” when they asked him if I could go camping with them. Now, I don’t think I am as bad as he made me out to be and I really do like camping. But it is probably also fair to say that I don’t like any kind of creepy crawlies. Even ladybugs freak me out.

So how could I stamp a card celebrating the creepy crawly? Well, Halloween is just one night so I can tough it out! And this card is definitely on the cute scale for Halloween.

I created a striped background for this card with a length of Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper bordered with Witches’ Brew Washi Tape on either side.  Subscribe to the new Rubber Stampers Club for only $5 a month and receive a bonus Washi Tape tutorial.

I stamped the two images from Halloween Bash (Wood 130577 $25.95, Clear 130580 $19.95) in Black StazOn ink and punched the smaller “Beware” image with the Scallop Oval punch. I layered this piece onto a Decorative Label punched piece in Summer Starfruit and added Summer Starfruit  3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon

Looking for a Halloween stamp set that will work well for both cards and treat bags? I recommend Halloween Bash!

Papillon Potpourri Bundlw with Bitty Butterfly Punch

Whenever I am deciding whether or not to purchase new products, I like to make sure I have a couple of ideas in mind for the stamp set. If you are the same way, I wanted to provide you with a couple of quick samples for this new Papillon Potpourri and Bitty Butterfly Bundle.

Papillon Potpourrii and Bitty Butterfly Bundle in Pistachio Pudding

I created a background of Bitty Butterfly punches for this card and adhered a small Basic Rhinestone into the center of each. As the punch would only reach so far, I actually used two pieces of Pistachio Pudding card stock joining them under the Whisper White 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon

The larger butterfly was heat embossed with White Emboss Powder and layered onto Coastal Cabana and Island Indigo.

Papillon Potpourri Bundle with Bitty Butterfly Punch in Island Indigo

For this card, I stamped a small butterfly in (from left to right) Pool Party, Island Indigo, Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay and Midnight Muse. I stamped and punched a second Bitty Butterfly to fit inside the circle frames. The frames were made by punching a 1-1/4″ Circle and then a 1-3/8″ Circle.

I added Basic Pearls as accents and a “Birthday Wishes” greeting from the Four You stamp set in Island Indigo to match the layered card stock.

Tag A Bag Gift Bags

When I saw the new Tag A Bag Gift Bags (#131370, $4.95) and coordinating Tag A Bag Accessory Kit (#130153, $9.95) in the catalogue, I thought they were really cute.  So I bought a bundle not really knowing when I was going to use them.

But the kits sure came in handy. I filled the bags with candy for some teens at church that helped me with a project and I also packaged a small gift and gift card in the bags another time for friends.

Included in the Tag A Bag Bundle are 10 Gift Bags and 10 large tags, 10 medium tags, twine, clothespins, adhesive strips and dimensionals from the Accessory Kit. Everything you need.

Using the same colors that are in the kit – Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Gumball Green, Smoky Slate and Tangerine Tango – I punched card stock with the Pansy Punch and added a Brights or Vintage Faceted Designer Button to the center.

The “heartfelt” greeting is from the Fabulous Phrases stamp set (Clear 120501, Wood 128577).
