Joyful Christmas with Two Backgrounds

Joyful Christmas with Two Backgrounds

Joyful Christmas with Winter Frost Background

Doing the happy dance today! My kids are back in school.

I really like having the kids at home and celebrating summer but my routine was absolutely shot this year. There was very little time to stamp and blog and my office is a mess. As a mom to two teenagers that are not quite driving yet, I feel as if my summer was spent behind the wheel of the car.

But today my time is my own again and I got to stamp and create with products from the new 2013 Holiday Catalogue.

My absolute favorite stamp set in the new catalogue (so far!) is Joyful Christmas. I made two almost identical cards today one with a Winter Frost Designer Series Paper patterned background and one with a Whisper White background.

I’m always surprised by how a simple change can create two quite different looking cards. For both cards, I stamped with Silver Encore ink onto Island Indigo card stock twice. I cut out the full poinsettia and then the smaller center and layered the two with dimensionals. The greeting is from the same set and there is a second greeting for inside the card.

When working with the Encore inks a little extra drying time is required or you can heat set the ink. But the vibrant metallic look is worth it. You will want the Gold Encore ink as well.

You know I am going to ask – which card is your favorite?

Joyful Christmas with Whisper White Background

I like the crisp Whisper White background on this card as it really shows off the Island Indigo.

A Delicate Details Lace Tape Card

A Delicate Details Lace Tape Card

Delicate Details Lace Tape Card

I knew I needed some color behind the Delicate Details Lace Tape for this card so I was glad to discover that the 3/4″ circle punch fits behind this doily design so well.

And once I punched the circles and adhered them behind the design the rest of the card was easy. And since the Delicate Designs Lace Tape is self adhesive there was no messing with adhesive.

The greeting is from the Four You stamp set (wood 130535, clear 130538) stamped in Basic Gray and punched out the with Extra-Large Oval Punch. Circles of Basic Gray and Crushed Curry complete the image piece.

Chalk Talk Alter Egos

Chalk Talk Alter Egos

Vintage Chalk Talk Card

When I received the Chalk Talk Bundle last month I immediately made the card below. My first impression of this set was that I needed to create chalkboard like cards to fit the name. I applied the embossing buddy with a heavy hand and then stamped the images in Whisper White Craft ink. With a sponge dauber, I sponged more Whisper White ink onto the Basic Black cardstock until it resembled a chalkboard.

I adhered the stamped images to a card of Marina Mist and embellished with Basic Black Chevron Ribbon. An okay card but it really didn’t make my heart sing. And I sort of assumed that all the cards I made with this set would look very similar. Wrong!

Today I was in a softer, more classic mood and decided to see if I could create something completely different with the Chalk Talk Bundle. And I think I did. The card above uses Pistachio Pudding and Island Indigo with Very Vanilla as the neutral.

The card has two different prints from the Venetian Romance designer series paper package that coordinate with the cardstocks. I am so glad I bought this paper as it is definitely a favorite. Remember to include a package of it when you place your Buy 3, Get 1 Free order for designer series papers.

This time I stamped the larger tag image and added Crochet Trim and Natural Trim to the tag. I added a medium Pearl Basic to each corner including a pearl that is on top of the In Color Boutique Detail.

I think that the very different looks that I created with one stamp set show the versatility of Chalk Talk. Whether you want a traditional chalkboard look or a softer, almost vintage look, you can achieve both by changing up the colors and accessories and creating an alter ego for your card.

Papaya Collage Bridal Shower Card

Papaya Collage Bridal Shower Card

Papaya Collage Bridal Shower Card

The one stamping investment I will never regret is the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine. Cutting and embossing is so easy that making special cards like this one take no time at all. I love how creative I can be when using the various framelits and embossing folders that Stampin’ up! offers in the catalog.

This card is for a bridal shower I am attending soon and as I didn’t know the wedding colours of the bride, I decided to stay very neutral and use only Very Vanilla and Soft Suede.

I stamped the rose from the Papaya Collage stamp set onto Very Vanilla cardstock with Soft Suede ink and then added a few embellishments to the card in the same tones. The bow is Crumb Cake Seam Binding and the button is from the Very Vintage Designer Buttons package with a Linen Thread knot.

What made this card simple to make was using framelits to cut the various shapes. From bottom to top, I layered a framelit from Labels Collection, Deco Labels Collection and Apothecary Accents. I embossed two of the layers with the Beautifully Baroque embossing folder for added texture.

I love the romantic vintage feel of this card that would work well as a wedding card also.

A Good Stamping Day – NOT!

A Good Stamping Day – NOT!

Too Kind Circle Card in Island Indigo and Crumb Cake

Why, oh why is cardmaking so straightforward one day and so challenging the next. The last card I made took maybe 10 minutes and looks exactly as I pictured it in my head. This card, not so much.

As you can see this is a Modern Mosaic card in Pool Party and Daffodil Delight with four equal circles along the edge. Except the Modern Mosaic didn’t look right so I exchanged it for Summer Silhouettes. And I added Island Indigo. But then the circles didn’t look even down the card so I went to three circles of different sizes from the Circles Collections Framelits. And I wasn’t really feeling the bright colors so I decided to add Crumb Cake to the Island Indigo and toss the other colors. Then the Summer Silhouettes image didn’t fit on the smallest circle so I put grabbed the Too Kind stamp set instead. Finally, I embellished the card with the Regals Candy Dots and 7/8″ Natural Trim

And here we are a Too Kind stamp set card in Crumb Cake and Island Indigo. Exactly what I intended to make today – NOT! And did I mention this card took way over an hour.

Please leave a comment and let me know that I am not the only one who experiences bad stamping days!

Regarding Dahlias Peek-A-Boo Window Card

Regarding Dahlias Peek-A-Boo Window Card

Regarding Dahlias Peek-A-Boo Window Card

This card was created using products that were still out on my work table waiting to be put away. I guess it’s kind of like having leftovers for dinner, isn’t it?

I am having lots of fun playing with the Squares Collection framelits and decided that a peek-a-boo window card would be fun. And I still had the Regarding Dahlias stamp set, white embossing powder and the Regals Candy Dots on my desk so all I had to fetch for this card was the Island Indigo Baker’s Twine

I stamped the image onto Island Indigo cardstock and embossed in white. I cut a window into the Whisper White cardstock and used the next size up for the stamped image. The image was adhered behind the frame with stampin’ dimensionals.

I added the Gingham Garden designer series paper to the card and assembled the pieces. I struggled a bit about whether or not to add a greeting to the front but decided the card didn’t need it and added it inside. Did I make the right decision? Would you have added a greeting to this card?
