Everything Eleanor Kissing Technique

Everything Eleanor Kissing Technique

Everything Eleanor Kissing Technique

Did you know that today is International Kissing Day? Although today is a day to celebrate romantic kisses, my thoughts also turned to the kissing technique for rubber stamping.

By the way, the world record for longest kiss is 58 hours but I guarantee you making this card took nowhere near that long.

For this card, I used the Everything Eleanor stamp set (wood 131987, clear 124164) in colors of Coastal Cabana, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray and Whisper White. This card definitely comes close to being “too much” but hopefully doesn’t cross the line.

I embellished the card with lots of accessories including Eastern Elegance paper, a flower made with the Buttons & Blossoms clay molds and Simply Pressed clay, Boutique Details and Ruffle Stretch Trim. I think I used every product I own in Coastal Cabana

Celebrate International Kissing Day by kissing the one you love. And then create a card using the Kissing Technique!

A Clean and Simple Too Kind Card

A Clean and Simple Too Kind Card

Too Kind Stamp Set in Rich Razzleberry

I didn’t have alot of time today for stamping so I knew I needed to create a clean and simple card for this post. When I think clean and simple and fast, I always think first of monochromatic cards.

So for this card, I decided that Rich Razzleberry was the way to go since I knew the polka dotted paper from Polka Dot Parade would fit work well with this card. I was also wanting to use the Too Kind stamp set again so the rest of the card came together easily.

I stamped the flower images in Rich Razzleberry and added Old Olive for the stems. The larger flower was stamped off once onto scrap paper for a second generation image. This allowed the smaller flower to be bolder and show up nicely on top of the larger image.

I created a banner for the greeting and embellished with a Rich Razzleberry button from the Brights Buttons. The background was made with the Modern Mosaic embossing folder. And that’s it, easy peasy stamping!

Use the hexagon punch to make banner ends

Tip:Use the new Hexagon punch to create even tails for banners. As long as your cardstock is less than 1-1/8″ wide, this punch makes perfect fishtail ends every time.

Stamping on Window Sheets

Stamping on Window Sheets

Flower Shop stamp set on window sheets

I have had a few requests lately asking about stamping on the Window Sheets shown on page 156 of the catalog. These clear acetate sheets can be used as windows in boxes or for shaker frames on cards but you can also stamp directly onto them.

Ink up your stamp in one of the StazOn inks – black or white –  and stamp onto the window sheet and allow it to dry. The window sheets can be slippery so a little extra care can be needed to ensure the stamp doesn’t slide around on the window sheets once you make contact.

You can also stamp with VersaMark ink and heat emboss with any of the embossing powders. This method doesn’t need any drying time so you can move right onto assembling the card.

Both of these cards were made with a flower image from the Flower Shop Stamp Set (wood 130939, clear 130942) and the Pansy Punch. To purchase the bundle and save 15%, please see the bottom of this post.

So, I gotta ask – which card is your favorite? Crushed Curry or Basic Black.  Please leave a comment and let me know.

Also, if you have a rubber stamping question for me, please leave a comment or e-mail me. Your question could be answered here next.

Crushed Curry Flower Shop on acetate

This Crushed Curry card features a patterned paper from the Eastern Elegance designer series paper package.

The greeting is part of the Four You stamp set and is just the perfect size for this card.

I positioned the flower and greeting towards the bottom for this card.

For this card, I stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder

A Crushed Curry Candy Dot from the Regal Collection is the center of the flower.

Flower Shop on Window Sheets in Black

The paper used on this card is from the Modern Medley designer series paper stack.

I decided to center the flower and greeting on this card and used the same “hello” greeting.

Flower stamped on window sheet with black StazOn

For this card, I stamped on the Window Sheet with Black StazOn ink and the White StazOn works as well.

The ink does take awhile to dry but will dry completely with no smudging.

Beautifully Baroque Bundle

Stampin’ Up! has just announced a fabulous Buy 3, Get 1 Free Promotion on Designer Series Papers. See more details below.

So I thought I would share a card today created with one of my new favourite designer series papers, Eastern Elegance which is part of the Eastern Elegance Suite shown on page 111 of the catalog.

I stamped the Beautifully Baroque image twice, once in Crushed Curry and again in Coastal Cabana. I cut the Crushed Curry image out with the new Circles Collections Framelits and cut the Coastal Cabana image with scissors to fit on top.

I embellished the stamped image with Crushed Curry Candy Dots from the Regals Collection package. I also added Coastal Cabana 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim and an embossed background made with the Beautifully Baroque embossing folder.  Note that I used the embossed cardstock the “wrong” way on this card so that the embossing is facing down to keep the card less busy looking.

Regarding Dahlias Split Negative

Regarding Dahlias Split Negative

Regarding Dahlias Split Negative

I’ve been working on cards this week for a Dreaming About Rubber Stamps Team swap. The theme of the swap was new catalogue sets so I decided to use Regarding Dahlias to make my cards.

Next up was to choose colours. I had decided on a Smoky Slate/Basic Gray combination and wanted to add another color to make them pop. So, I added Melon Mambo because I knew that I needed embossing powder for the Split Negative technique I wanted to use.

For this technique, you stamp the image twice onto a lighter and a darker cardstock. You can also use two different colors of embossing powder if you wish. Cut each piece in half and align them. I find it best to leave the card stock a little long so it is easier to piece them together. I generally make my pieces the size of a quarter sheet of cardstock then adhere the two halves to a second piece of cardstock that is the right size for layering and trim. This technique will make two cards when you put the two colors together.

Last, I added my greeting. The Regarding Dahlias stamp set includes four great greeting so I just had to choose one, stamp and emboss and punch out with the Artisan Punch. I placed the Smoky Slate on the Whisper White side and reversed the colors the second time.

Stamps: Regarding Dahlias (Wood 130324, Clear 130327)

Ink: VersaMark (102283)

Paper: Melon Mambo (115320), Smoky Slate (131202), Basic Gray (121044), Whisper White (100730)

Punches: Artisan Label (130920)

Other: Melon Mambo Embossing Powder (123223), Heat Tool (129053)
