Painted Poppies in Pastels
A great, no mess way to add colour to a stamped image is with the Soft Pastels, new to the catalogue this year. I stamped an image from Painted Poppies in Black StazOn Ink and then simply added the colour. This stamp set will be on sale tomorrow – keep reading for the details.
To finish the card, I used a greeting from the Best Year stamp set and layered with Basic Black and Poppy Parade cardstocks.
I really simple card with an artistic pop of colour.
The Soft Pastels Assortment from Stampin’ Up! includes 8 vibrant colours including Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy and Poppy Parade. That works out to less than $2 per colour and the options for colouring, adding texture and creating backgrounds are endless.
For this card, I used a Water Painter to pick up a little Poppy Parade from the pastel and coloured the poppies. The water helps to set the pastel and prevent smearing. If you are concerned about the colour staying, you can apply a sealant or use a hairspray with a fine spray to seal the pastels but I didn’t think it was needed.
