It’s that time of year. Summer is on the way out and Fall is rapidly approaching. The days are still nice and fairly warm but the evenings feel like Autumn with the crisp, cool air.
And this stamp set, Day of Gratitude, is a great way to express the change of seasons. I am really enjoying creating with this stamp set and the coordinating paper, Autumn Spice.Don’t buy one without the other. They match so well!
To make this card, I stamped the branch image and “thank you” greeting onto a 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with Cajun Craze ink. I layered this piece onto a piece of 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ piece of Cajun Craze cardstock and then onto a 3″ x 3″ piece of Autumn Spice specialty designer series paper that features More Mustard. This paper is a specialty paper because the sheets are a heavyweight cardstock. Very nice!
I added a 1″ wide strip of the Autumn Spice paper that matches the stamped image to the front of the Cajun Craze card after rounding the corners with my punch.
The Cajun Craze button with a linen thread bow was attached with a mini glue dot and the stamped image was attached with dimensionals.
A clean and simple card that is perfect for this time of year.
This Northern Flurry card is for a Holiday Mini catalogue swap I am participating in this week. I wanted to show off the Black Flourish Designer Jewels and how better than black and white.
I embossed my Whisper White cardstock with the new Big Shot embossing folder, Northern Flurry and then layered it onto Basic Black cardstock and then onto a Whisper White card. I added the black jewels by size – the largest jewel on the largest snowflake. Finally, I added a bow made from Whisper White taffeta ribbon and the Raven lace trim. I found that layering the two ribbons gave the bow more substance and showed off the lace a little bit better.
Want to see more samples from the swap? I will be posting them on my Facebook page over the next while. Click on the logo below to visit my Facebook page and click on the “like” button so you can see all the swap cards as they are posted.
Note: Customers on my mailing list and those who requested the Holiday Mini catalogues before August 27th should have the catalogue in their mailboxes. Unfortunately, I have heard from many of you that the catalogues mailed directly from Stampin’ Up! have not shown up and so will need to be re-sent. If you still need a mini catalogue, please email me so I can get one in the mail to you ASAP. Thanks!
This “celebrate” card uses several of the products from the sampler including the silver waffle paper, silver tinsel, a silver glimmer brad and a Blushing Bride button. I also used the Northern Flurry embossing folder for the Big shot and the new Decorative Label and 3/4″ x 15/16″ medium oval punches.
My kids are back to school on Monday and I can feel fall in the air in the evenings. Those Northern Flurries will be here before we know it!

The Dryer Sheet Technique is an oldie but a goodie. A simple way to dress up a card and make it unique.

The colours I choose for this card are Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze and Sahara Sand. The Baja Breeze/Not Quite Navy combination was recommended on the Color Coach and I added Sahara Sand as a neutral. The colours are vibrant without being too bright.
The greeting was stamped with VersaMark ink and embossed with white embossing powder.
The only embellishment I added to this card in addition to the Dryer Sheet Technique was embossing the Not Quite Navy cardstock with the Square Lattice embossing folder.
Only a few more days to order from the Summer Mini Catalogue. Take a last look at the catalogue today and be sure you have ordered everything on your wishlist!
Just this morning, I read an article stating that Ribbon Flowers are going to be a big trend in scrapboooking and rubber stamping this year.
And this video shows you how to make your own!(If you received this message by e-mail or in a blog reader, you may need to visitmy blog to see the link.)

This box was made using the Fancy Favor die for the Big Shot. After cutting out the box from 12×12 Basic Black cardstock, I embossed it using the Square Lattice embossing folder also for the Big Shot. I did one section at a time lining up the folder so its outer edge fit into the side pleats of the Fancy Favor box.
Next, I wrapped a length of the Basic Black 1-1/4″ striped grosgrain ribbon around the bottom of the box and used a knot of Real Red satin ribbon to hold it in place.
The greeting piece was stamped with Basic Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock using the So Many Thanks a la carte stamp ($9.95, #120173,page 18). This stamped piece was then layered onto a larger piece of Basic Black cardstock and a second larger piece of Real Red cardstock. I added small rhinestones over the row of hearts on the stamped image to tie into the rhinestones on the ribbon flower.
Finally I added a Ribbon Flower that was made with a 1-1/4″ circle of cardstock. See the video below for the Ribbon Flower instructions.
