Watercolor Trio in Rich Razzleberry Card

Watercolor Trio in Rich Razzleberry Card

Stampin Up Watercolor Trio

This is so not the card I had pictured in my mind when I started stamping. I knew I wanted to use the Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Paper I just bought and had planned to use a different stamp set and accessories.

Despite the fact this card doesn’t look anything like my plan, I like it. And I am loving the Watercolor Trio stamp set used here. Personally, I often make mono chromatic cards when I am struggling with a design. And that is why you often see one colour cards posted here!

I stamped the image from Watercolor Trio multiple times using different generations of Rich Razzleberry ink. The first time you stamp an image it is called the first generation. If you stamp the image again without re-inking, you now have a second generation image. You can continue with third generations and more until you re-ink the stamp.

Generational stamping is an easy technique that allows for different colours of ink from the same ink pad. It is a great way to stretch your ink investment.

I layered the stamped image onto Rich Razzleberry textured cardstock from the In Color textured cardstock assorted package and then onto Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the greeting onto Whisper White cardstock with Rich Razzleberry ink and punched it out with a 1-1/4″ circle. This was adhered to a punched Rich Razzleberry 1-3/8″ circle and attached to the image piece with dimensionals.

I created the side panel with Rich Razzleberry DSP, a Whisper White piece of cardstock embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder and a length of Rich Razzleberry ribbon.

I added three white jumbo brads in the bottom right corner and assembled the card with a 1-3/4″ circle of Rich Razzleberry cardstock tucked in behind the stamped pieces.

Not the card I expected to create today but maybe just a little bit better! Hope you like it!

An Oh, So Cute Purse Card

An Oh, So Cute Purse Card

Stampin Up Canada

Isn’t this purse card adorable? Whether you make them as birthday cards, party favours, bachelorette party gifts or as a gift card holder, everyone will go crazy for this little purse!

I went girly for this purse card and choose Pretty in Pink satin ribbon and Pretty in Pink papers from the Sweet Pea designer series paper stack – 48 double sided sheets for $32.95 – page 33 of the Occasions Mini catalogue.

Cut the cardstock to 5” x 11”. Score at 3-1/2”, 4-1/2”, 5”, 8-1/2” and 9”.

The large white grommet will be inserted through a 1/2″ circle on the front flap. Since the 1/2″ circle punch won’t go through three layers at once, I punched the circle into the middle of the black cardstock first. Next, I lined up the piece of 1-3/4″ x 4-3/4″ Whisper White cardstock and punched again. Finally, I lined up a piece of designer series paper 1-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ and punched a final time. Insert the grommet and bend back the prongs.

The pieces of paper on the bottom of the purse measure 4-3/4″ x 3-1/4″ for the Whisper white cardstock and 4-1/2″ x 3″ for the Sweet Pea paper. Carefully close the purse aligning the top and bottom flaps. Make a mark through the grommet showing where to insert the ribbon. Punch holes for the ribbon and tie it in a knot. To close the purse, you will pull the ribbon through the grommet.

With sticky strip at the ends, add a handle of cardstock measuring ½” x 6”. The Pretty in Pink cardstock inside the purse card is 4-3/4″ x 3-1/4″ and the Whisper White is 4-1/2″ x 3″. Stamp to finish.

Have fun making these little purses and remember there are only 10 days left to shop from the Occasions Mini catalogue!

Trendy Trees

Stampin' Up! Trendy Trees

Trendy Trees is such a great set.  First of all, I love sets that include greetings and this set has two – thinking of you and thanks so much. This set of 8 also has 4 tree tops and two tree trunks so you can create lots of different looking cards. And, did I mention the matching wheel, Funky Forest. Whether you use the wheel for scrapbooking, making matching envelopes or creating a background, a matching set and wheel always make for a good investment.

This card uses only two colours of cardstock and three colours of ink. You don’t need a lot of supplies to get started rubber stamping.

To make this card, stamp the trees onto Whisper White cardstock with Bashful Blue and Night of Navy ink for the tree tops and Certainly Celery ink for the trunks using a stamp-a-ma-jig.    Punch with 1-1/4” square punch and layer onto 1-3/8” punched squares of Certainly Celery cardstock.  Layer striped 1-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ Certainly Celery designer series paper onto Whisper White cardstock and add the punched squares with stampin’ dimensionals.  Stamp greeting onto larger piece of Certainly Celery dsp with Night of Navy ink and layer onto Whisper White cardstock.  Add ribbon and assemble card to finish. Easy peasy!

Mini Stair Step Card – Greenhouse Garden

Mini Stair Step Card – Greenhouse Garden

Stampin Up Greenhouse Garden

This mini stair step card is soo cute!

And once you see how simple it is to make, you won’t be able to stop making these cards.

For this card, you will need the following cardstock pieces:

  • Certainly Celery 3-1/4” x 6”
  • Bashful Blue 2-1/4” x 2-1/4”
  • Pretty in Pink 2” x 2”
  • Lavender Lace 1-3/4” x 1-3/4”
  • Whisper White 2” x 2”, 1-3/4” x 1-3/4”, 1-1/2” x 1-1/2”, 3/4” x 8-1/2”
  • Certainly Celery DSP  5/8” x 8-1/2”

Score the Certainly Celery cardstock at 1″, 2”, 3”, 4” and 5”.

Stamp the flower images onto corresponding sized square of Whisper White cardstock. I don’t usually reach for my Stamp-a-ma-jig but I do recommend it with this set.

Layer the Whisper White squares onto the coloured cardstock squares.

Adhere smallest square to first scored “mountain peak”. Add middle square to second peak and largest square to last peak.

Create belly band from Whisper White cardstock and Certainly Celery DSP. Add ribbon to finish.

And the Greenhouse Garden set is on sale during April. It is 20% off the regular price, now only $27.96. If you like floral stamp sets, Greenhouse Garden needs to be in your collection.

I hope you had a great Easter. In addition to Easter, my kids had Spring Break last week as well. So, I took a few days off to spend time with my family.  We went to see Alice in Wonderland 3D and I really liked it. We went shopping at West Edmonton Mall, spent time with family and friends and we just spent time together at home. I love being a Stampin’ up! demonstrator and setting my own hours. Since I took time off last week, I promise to post every day this week! So keep coming back to my blog for more cards and project ideas.

Upsy Daisy – Metallic Ink Layering

Upsy Daisy – Metallic Ink Layering

Stampin' Up!

I only clean my desk off when I simply cannot work there anymore.  Because there is not one square inch of space left to create.

But there are certain advantages to working this way. Often when I return to my desk I am inspired by some of the products that are still out. And that is what happened with this card.

Since my Encore refill inks and sponge daubers were calling to me, I decided to create another card with the refills. This one uses a technique for layering metallic ink over classic ink. Really simple.

I inked up my Upsy Daisy floral stamp – don’t you love it this set?! – with Night of Navy classic ink and then applied Silver Encore refill over the classic with a sponge dauber. After huffing to remoisten, I stamped onto Whisper White cardstock. I used my heat tool to dry the Silver Encore ink but you could also emboss with clear embossing powder.

The greeting is also from the Upsy Daisy stamp set and fits perfectly into the large oval punch.  I love how Stampin’ Up! makes sure so many of the their products coordinate. I layered the greeting that was stamped with Night of Navy ink on Whisper White cardstock onto a Brushed Silver scallop oval punch  and finished with with stampin’ dimensionals.

I embellished the card with three silver brads in the bottom right corner. I get so many compliments on my cards when I layer the narrow grosgrain ribbon, here I used Night of Navy, over the Whisper White Organza ribbon that I do it a lot.

I also tried the Silver Encore refill ink over Melon Mambo and Pixie Pink and they looked really pretty as well.

Try this technique yourself and let me know what you think.
