I haven’t used my Crystal Effects in awhile so I decided to use it on this card to add some shine.
I stamped the Vivid Vases stamp multiple times with Tuxedo Memento ink – once on the card itself and then five more times on different patterns of designer series paper from Sweet Taffy. I cut out each paper vase and then carefully applied a thin coat of Crystal Effects with a paintbrush and allowed some drying time. The time to dry will depend on how thickly the Crystal Effects is applied. Remembering to rinse out the paintbrush right away will make clean up easier.
The card stocks used for this card are Bermuda Bay, Basic Black and Whisper White. I embossed the smaller piece of Bermuda Bay card stock with the Polka Dot embossing folder before assembling the card.
Since the Sweet Taffy paper features the Brights Collections colors, I colored the flowers with the same Brights Stampin’ Write Markers.
Three pearls along the bottom helped create a third focal point on the card. The eye likes triangles in photography and card making so the addition of some type embellishment in a corner can really help make the card look complete.
To finish the card, I used stampin’ dimensionals to attach the vases and add some height for a more 3d card.
This glass technique can be used on many images including windows, water and flowers. Have fun!
The Corner Garden stamp was another instant favorite from the new 2014-2015 catalogue. I had been hoping for a large, beautiful image that fills up the card and could be colored. And this is it!
For this card I used the “simple” Stained Glass technique. There are lots of techniques that use the name stained glass but this is probably the easiest. Simply stamp the image on vellum and heat emboss. I used white embossing powder but any color will work.
Then turn the stamped image over and colour on the back with markers. I used the new In Colors for this card. Let dry for just a moment and adhere to white cardstock so the stained glass effect is more visible. And that’s it. I told you it was easy.
I finished the card with a greeting and some Blackberry Bliss accents including cardstock and stitched ribbon.
The Corner Garden stamp is a great addition to my collection of images and I know I will use it a lot. If you have been looking for a stamp like this, order yours today.
A nod to comic book excitement, this set has a full stylized alphabet with builder pieces to create your own customized superhero or villain. Recommended clear block sizes are A, B, C and I (not included in the set).
This is the second Regarding Dahlias Split Negative Card I made. You can see the first one here.
I kept this card monochromatic by using only Crisp Cantaloupe for the ink and paper as well as the designer series paper. This paper is from the Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper Pack. This package is one of my favorites and includes Island Indigo, Pistachio Pudding, Soft Suede and Tangerine Tango as well as the Crisp Cantaloupe.
I love making these 3D pop-up cards and they are so simple to make. For this card, I stamped three of the same ornament image from the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and then cut the images out with the matching Holiday Ornaments Framelit. After folding each image in half vertically, I adhered the inner edged together and then glued the ornament to the card.
The card folds flat for mailing and then can be puffed up again after removing from the envelope. I like to include a little note telling the recipient that they are a pop-up card and to fold the edges up after opening.
I made a similar card a couple of years ago using the Ornament Punch (119847) and lots of punches. See ithere.
I already had my Cherry Cobbler ink and paper out so I decided to add the new In Color Primrose Petals to the card based on the colours in the printed paper.
The greeting is from More Merry Messages. This might just be the best Christmas greeting set ever! I did a bunch of Christmas stamping this week getting ready for more blog posts and used this set on every card. There is a size and sentiment for almost project. There are lots of fun new accessories in the Holiday Catalogue including the Designer Ribbon Sliders. I used just an inch or so of ribbon threaded through the slide as an accent. There was so much going on with this card and the Snow Festival Designer Series Paper print that I used that I thought a length of ribbon would be too much.

For my cards today I revisited an old technique. Although I have used the Watercolor Wash technique many times it never fails to amaze me how pretty this technique is for card making.

When I coloured the flowers some were lighter in colour than others so I decided to make two different cards. This first one features Rose Red.
Heat emboss the flower from the Growing Green stamp set onto Shimmery White cardstock with Whisper White craft ink (or VersaMark) and white embossing powder.
Spritz embossed cardstock generously with water. You should see puddles of water on the paper.
Choose three or four ink refill colours. I used Pretty in Pink, Rose Red and Rich Razzleberry. Place a few drops or each colour onto a clear block or other surface and pick up the colour with an Aqua Painter.
Use the Aqua Painter to add the first colour to the paper.
Add the other colours to the stamped images and allow to dry. A Heat Tool can be used to speed up the drying time.
This card was made with the Smacking Acetate technique, a favourite of mine since it is fast and fun to make. And I get to scribble like a kid!
Please watch the video below to see how you can create colorful backgrounds using this technique. The card above uses glossy white cardstock with Marina Mist, Melon Mambo and Night of Navy markers. After the glossy cardstock was completely dry, I stamped the flowers and greeting from the Upsy Daisy stamp set in black StazOn ink directly onto the backround.

This Smacking Acetate Technique card was made with watercolor paper that has been heat embossed with VersaMark ink and clear embossing powder. The colours used are Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi and Night of Navy with the Growing Green stamp set.
