Happy International World Card Making Day!
Simple Saturdays are all about clean and simple card making to me. Cards that can be made in 10 minutes or less.Â
This card was made using the Joyous Celebrations stamp set and Holiday Frame Embossing Folder seen in the Holiday Catalogue on page 7.
After creating the embossed frame, I stamped the dotted frame, ornament and greeting on a piece of Whisper White card stock with Night of Navy ink. I cut the ornament out with scissors and added a rhinestone to the center. The other images were punched out.
Now all that was left to do was assemble the card with a stampin’ dimensional between the ornament and the dotted frame. Quick and easy. If you need to make a lot of Christmas cards this year, think about a card similar to this one. Â
And don’t forget to enter to win blog candy this weekend – click here.
In looking closer at this card, I think I glued the Whisper White card stock to the Night of Navy card upside down. The frame has enough scrolls going on that it really doesn’t make much difference but the frame is shown the opposite way in the catalogue. Oops!

Using two of the Oval Punches on this card really helped cut down on the time it took to make. The Extra Large Oval (119859) fits perfectly around the stamped frame and the Small Oval (120908) is a perfect fit for the greeting.Â

To quote Frank Sinatra, “You can’t have one without the other.”
Now I don’t think Frank was referring to stamp sets and embossing folders but the sentiment is the surely the same. When Stampin’ Up! designs a stamp set like Joyous Celebrations to match an embossing folder like Holiday Frame, you just have to have both!

I really, really wanted to use the new Champagne Glimmer Paper on a card for my Christmas Card class last week. So I made this one. Champagne Glimmer Paper – even the name sounds rich and indulgent, doesn’t it?.
To make this card, I cut out the largest snowflake from Raspberry Ripple card stock and then cut out a second large snowflake from the Champagne Glimmer paper. I cut this snowflake in half and adhered it over the Raspberry Ripple snowflake.
The two smaller snowflakes were cut out of Whisper White card stock and centered over the large snowflake and glued with Mini Glue Dots. A large Pearl Basic Jewel in the middle completed the snowflake.Â
The “Noel” greeting is from the Greeting of the Season stamp set and stamped in Raspberry Ripple ink on Whisper white card stock. I notched the right edge with the 1-1/4″ square punch and attached it just hanging off the edge of the card. I liked this look and it still fits in an envelope.
Have you decided on your Christmas Cards for this year? If I can be of any help to you as you plan your cards or place your order, please contact me. Watch for more Christmas samples on my blog and in my newsletter over the coming weeks. And if you want your cards designed for you, register for a card class.
And remember that a little Champagne Glimmer can make a simple card look stunning.

Can you see the sparkle in the Champagne Glimmer Paper?
Love it! And you don’t need a lot of paper to really make a card shine.

I was using the Floral Frames Framelits recently – which are quickly becoming my must have framelit set for the Big Shot – when two of the frames layered themselves on my table. The look was so interesting that I had to try and recreate it with cardstock. And this card is the result. Please read the instructions below for more details.
This finished card measures 5-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ just the right size for the largest framelit. Since the center of the card looked a little bare I added a Whisper White Paper Doily Sizzlet before attaching the frame. I also punched out Old Olive leaves using the Bird Builder punch.Â
I used stampin’ dimensionals to attached the Cherry Cobbler frame and Whisper White inserts to the card before adding the Tulle Rose and leaves to the middle.
Like this card? Please leave me a comment and let me know!
Â
Â

For this rose, I made a rosette with the Scalloped Tulle Ribbon and a Jumbo Sticky Round leaving the outer edges looser than the inside. The leaves are the bird’s wing from the Bird Builder punch.Â

Â
Cut out the card stock using the second largest Floral Frame framelit. Layer the largest Floral Frame Framelit on top of the card stock as shown and cut again. To make the card, attach the frame to card stock and adhere the cut out pieces into the frame.Â

Phil and I were invited to a wine and cheese wedding reception recently to celebrate the marriage of friends who had a Caribbean destination wedding. I received a card similar to this in a downline swap from Pam M and knew I had to make this card. I just couldn’t resist the Rhinestone Jewel bubbles.
Since it was a wedding card, I wanted to dress it up a bit and use the Brushed Silver card stock with Night of Navy. I knew that silver ink would look good with the rhinestones so I decided to play with my new Silver Stampin’ Dazzle Marker as the ink.Â
I coloured directly onto the stamp with the marker and then stamped the image onto card stock as I normally would. And it worked!
My concern was about cleaning the stamp afterwards. No problem! If the stamp is cleaned right away the marker colour comes off easily. I decided to leave the ink on longer to see if it made cleaning the stamp more difficult. I have a bad habit of leaving my stamps on the table with ink on them for days until I put them away so this was important to me. The stamp was left for about three days before I cleaned it. It did take a few more swipes on the Stampin’ Scrub this time but not many. It still cleaned up surprisingly quick.
For $4.50, the Stampin’ Dazzle Markers, available in both Silver and Gold, are a great investment. My newsletter this week will include a video showing another way to use these markers. Videos in my newsletter will not appear on my blog, so if you haven’t already, sign up for my newsletter today so you don’t miss out!

Â
The Stampin’ Dazzle Marker from the Holiday Catalogue can be used in place of ink! Simply colour directly onto the stamp with the marker, huff with your breathe to refresh the ink and stamp the image.

I like colour on my cards and making this totally neutral card was a little outside of my comfort zone. I knew that I wanted to highlight the Crochet Trim and that adding a lot of colour to this card might distract from it.
I decided to use Early Espresso, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla as the colour scheme. The Very Vintage wheel was stamped in Early Espresso ink and used as the main stamped image on the card. In keeping with the vintage theme I decided to add Antique Brads as well.Â
To help the Crochet Trim stand out a bit more, I layered it on top of the new 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon from the Holiday 2012 catalogue. I decided not to add a greeting to the front of this card making it a true “All Occasion” card.
The last step was to add the Crochet Trim Rosette layered onto Sahara Sand card stock with an Antique Brad in the center.
I have another two Jumbo Sticky Round samples to share yet. Watch for them next week!

I cut out the middle flower from the Floral Frames framelits and rolled up the petals a bit.I also added a bit of Early Espresso ink to the edges to help the flower stand out more.Â

Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel, $10.50, 117693
This is definitely the wheel I use the most especially on cards I want to have an antique-y, vintage-y look.
If I am stamping a card or anything shorter then 7″ (once around the wheel), I find it easiest to ink up the wheel on an ink pad rather than using the wheel cartridges. Just roll the wheel over the ink pad a few times and you are good to go.
Remember to re-ink with every image.

I realized something about myself today. I am a pearl strip hoarder. I have a small tray where I keep all of my Pearl Basics Jewel sheets and there are lots of sheets where I have used all of the pearls except the long strips. I keep telling myself that I am saving them although I am not sure for what. After all not every card deserves to have so many pearls. But I can’t remember a time that I have ever used more that a couple of them. Today is the day – this card deserves pearls and lots of them.Â
If you received my newsletter yesterday, I explained in the video how to make smaller rosettes using the Jumbo Sticky Rounds. And if you didn’t receive the newsletter, sign up today, you don’t want to miss the next one. As promised in the video, today’s card shows a finished sample of the smaller rosettes.
After 10 years of Stampin’ Up! stamping, this is still one of my favourite colour combinations- Rose Red, Regal Rose and Old Olive. Sometimes I even add Pretty in Pink or Certainly Celery if I need another layer.
I stamped the two stems from the Field Flowers stamp set in Old Olive ink and then added the rosettes topped off with a larger pearl. I stamped the greeting, also from Field Flowers, and punched with the extra-large oval. Lastly, I added a length of small pearls on either side of the greeting aligning with the edge of the Old Olive card stock and leaving a bit of a gap by the greeting.
It actually took me longer to find my Rose Red Seam Binding than to make this card. And those of you who have seen my stamp room will have no doubt believing that. And where was the seam binding? On my stamp table right where it should be.

Instead of making one large rosette, I cut the Jumbo Sticky Round into smaller circles and made two rosettes for this card.Â
